Physicians CareConnection Our Mission:
Dedicated to Optimizing the Health of Those Most Vulnerable in Central Ohio Some of the programs include:

1.

The Physicians CareConnection (PCC), formerly Physicians Free Clinic/Voluntary Care Network (PFC/VCN), is the largest coordinator of voluntary health care services in Central Ohio with over 1000 primary/specialty care doctors and 13 hospitals participating. PCC connects low-income, uninsured residents with medical homes and improves access (reduce delays) to specialty care. The PCC care coordination model address the needs of patients as they navigate the health care system and work to provide them with the resources necessary to obtain appropriate health care services. Primary Care: Patients are able to receive primary care through our Monday nights walk-in free clinic, operated at the Columbus Public Health department on; 240 Parsons Avenue, Columbus, OH 43215, from 5:00pm. The clinic serves as a “bridge” or a gateway into the health care system for people who do not have a primary care doctor.

2. Voluntary Care Network: PCC clients are able to access specialty care through a decentralized or “virtual” network of providers.

3. Preventative Colorectal Cancer Screening Initiative: In partnership with the Ohio Gastroenterology Group, patients who are uninsured, 50 years and older, asymptomatic and never had prior screening, receive a screening colonoscopy at no charge.

4. OSU Eye Free Clinic: PCC coordinates the ophthalmology clinic at the OSU Havener Eye Institute for patients with serious eye illness or injury.

5. Dental CareConnection: The dental clinic also operated at the Columbus Public Health department on 240 Parsons Avenue, provides tooth extractions restorative and denture services to those without dental insurance coverage.

6. STEPONE for a Healthy Pregnancy: An Intake and Referral program that connects pregnant women with affordable, timely and convenient prenatal care and resources for a healthy pregnancy.

Every year, our neighbors face barriers to health that have nothing to do with medicine — unstable housing, food insecurity, no way to pay for care. In 2025, PCC's volunteer physicians and healthcare experts led the way, helping reach 6,919 lives across Central Ohio with coordinated support that addresses the whole person. Behind every encounter is a provider who showed up — and a community of donors and partners who made it possible. We are deeply grateful. Today marks one year since we cut the ribbon to officially open the PCC Center for Optimal Health. In the last 365 days, we have scheduled over 1,200 medical appointments and were able to bring back Specialty Care. Thanks to our amazing Doctors, Medical Professionals, and Community Volunteers, who have collectively logged over 1,000 hours of service, which allowed us to expand our days and hours of operation. We are looking forward to continuing to serve the vulnerable people in our community and are excited about the work we will be able to do in 2026.

This December, we’re proud to highlight Free Clinic Appreciation Month, a time to celebrate Ohio’s free and charitable clinics and their vital role in building healthier communities. Established by the Ohio Legislature, Free Clinic Appreciation Month honors the care, compassion, and commitment of clinics that provide essential health services to people who might otherwise go without.

Across Ohio, free and charitable clinics are often the first line of care for individuals and families without access to traditional healthcare. They offer primary and preventive care, dental and pharmacy services, chronic disease management, and critical referrals—regardless of a patient’s ability to pay.

By spotlighting this work, Free Clinic Appreciation Month raises awareness of the challenges and successes of these clinics, encourages community involvement, and reinforces the importance of a strong healthcare safety net in Ohio. Accessible, quality care isn’t a privilege; it’s a cornerstone of healthy, thriving communities.

All month long, we’ll be sharing stories from our Free Clinic Appreciation Month Award winners, including Free Clinic, Physician, Nurse, Pharmacist, Dentist, Volunteer, Advanced Practice Provider, Clinic Staff Member, and Community Partner of the Year. Stay tuned as we announce and celebrate these incredible honorees and share links to their stories.
