What are you like when you lose something?

This group was severely tested this week. We stripped away their outsight. This may send some folks in a panic, fearing the worst - not trusting what they cannot see. What happens when you lose something or someone that has become such a big part of you? There's two types of people, those that adjust and make progress with their remaining gifts. And those that dwell and complain in their loss. One is an attitude of winner and the other a loser. Everyone loses, but not everyone has to be a loser. How you recover from loss is what makes a person a winner. And winners lead others. This is a group of leaders. They are leading each other making them a powerful and inspiring group!

By taking away their vision, they have to start to rely on other pillars of our practice. The 5 pillars we emphasize are:

Eye gaze : In this weeks BE BAD training we removed this external drishti, but there's still an inner gaze available. Just close your eyes and notice what you see. That's inner gaze. This will help settle a wandering or worried mind.

Breathe: All subtle movements should work through breath in order for the diaphragm to work optimally maximizing each breath. It's not about more breathes, it's about longer slower and fuller breathes. When the body is in optimal position this can be achieved. Optimal position can be established with awareness of the next pillar....

Hands, Feet, Core (pelvis): This allows for coordination and proprioception awareness of spacing without visual input. This creates a balanced framework. This is our foundation.

Heat: This is about manufacturing resistance or friction. If we avoid resistance we have no way of leveraging it and transforming it into a new energy source. That's why our inner fire, our inner resistance is so important and must be faced.

Flow: This is about intentionality and moving into the right space at the right time. This takes great awareness, and not over complicating or getting in your head. With great implementation of the other pillars this will become intuitive.

5 pillars of our practice #1 drishti

What are all five pillars?
Drishti = eye gaze / vision. This stabilizes mind.
Ujjayi = breath / moment to moment attention. This stabilizes emotions / nervous system.
Bandhis = foundational seals (hands, feet, core). This brings great awareness to the whole posture.
Tapas = fire / heat / intensity. The heat to help get closer or "melt" towards body, muscle tissues and feeling of bones, in order to move from bones.
Vinyasa = flow / intentionality. By working through transitions, we develop intentionality that builds flow. The poses and practice is not fixed to a point. We flow through points.
