Can you create a pause when your default is to react when faced with pressure?
Most of us may miss this opportunity because it is embedded in our subconscious, which controls our behavior, especially when under pressure. Pay attention to your nervous system when you are holding a challenging yoga pose. Instead of just reacting your normal way, can you create spaces of quiet? Conscious breathing is one effective technique to create this mental space. In that space you will gain a broader perspective of the situation you are faced with. That broader perspective removes you from your default, a pattern of your subconscious, and expands your consciousness. In that expansion you can see more. From this new and bigger way of seeing, you gain more access and resources to respond effectively. You begin handling pressure with awareness rather than reactivity. Challenges becomes fun and exciting. Instead of anxiety driven or repetitive, dull and depressing.
