Meet Matt!

Matt is excited to be part of Learning Aid Ohio because he believes tutoring is about more than academics—it’s about changing the trajectory of a Learner’s confidence and long-term success. With years of experience supporting Learners with unique needs, he is passionate about individualized instruction that is empowering, achievable, and meaningful for both Learners and families.

"I’ve seen how the right connection and approach can unlock potential that often gets overlooked. Every Learner deserves a champion who believes in them, and I take pride in being that person—helping build confidence, independence, and measurable progress."

Matt’s favorite moments come from witnessing breakthroughs: a Learner reading aloud with confidence, or a parent sharing that their child has never been so motivated. He values being part of Learning Aid Ohio’s mission and looks forward to helping Learners build not just academic skills, but lifelong confidence and success.

Summer enrollment is now open!

Learning Aid Ohio connects families with grant-funded, one-on-one tutoring for students with IEPs. Families can choose from our pool of approved tutors or invite someone they trust to apply.

Summer Semester: May 16 – September 11
Applications are reviewed in the order they’re received.

Meet LaValley!

LaValley enjoys making reading and math practice fun and engaging through games, puzzles, and hands-on activities that help Learners build skills with letters, sounds, numbers, sight words, and more.

"My favorite moments are watching Learners grasp a concept and excitedly ask, ‘Is that right?’ Those moments show their confidence growing."

LaValley looks forward to helping Learners strengthen their reading and math skills while creating positive, encouraging learning experiences through Learning Aid Ohio.

March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month

Learning Aid Ohio proudly supports learners with developmental disabilities by providing access to meaningful, individualized learning opportunities. Since launching in the 2020–21 school year, we have served 6,493 learners across 82 counties in Ohio.

Meet Linda!

Linda is a retired educator with over 35 years of teaching experience who continues to enjoy working with Learners and supporting their growth. Her passion for reading and preparing Learners for the future shines through in everything she does.

"I love helping Learners build strong reading skills and feel confident in their learning. Making learning fun while preparing Learners for what comes next is what I enjoy most."

Linda brings extensive experience tutoring and offers flexible support with test readiness, homework help, class projects, and school-related assignments. With a personal library of over 300 books and a wide range of learning materials, she is excited to help Learners succeed through Learning Aid Ohio.

GiGi’s Playhouse—an outside organization and the only international network of Down Syndrome Achievement Centers—is hosting a symposium focused on evidence-based strategies for supporting people with Down syndrome. Led by experienced educators and therapists from across the GiGi’s Playhouse Network, this session will explore how people with Down syndrome learn best and share practical, easy-to-apply strategies tutors can use right away.

This is a helpful resource for tutors looking to expand their toolkit and strengthen inclusive, learner-centered instruction.
