“Sleep quality has dramatically improved.”

Sleep plays a critical role in how the brain regulates stress, recovers from daily demands, and supports overall wellbeing.

For many veterans and first responders, sleep disruption can become a long-term challenge after years of irregular schedules, operational stress, and traumatic brain injuries.

In this testimonial, a former Navy SEAL shares how his experience with eTMS Florida helped improve sleep quality, sleep duration, and overall quality of life after years of disrupted sleep patterns.

eTMS Ohio and eTMS Florida are part of the broader eTMS program supported by JLC Services Inc., working to expand access to brain-based care for veterans, first responders, and individuals seeking support for neurological health.

Stories like this highlight the importance of supporting brain health and recovery through structured, brain-based care.

This week marks Sleep Awareness Week, and March also recognizes Brain Injury Awareness Month.

Sleep plays a central role in emotional balance, cognitive clarity, and nervous system recovery. When sleep is disrupted over time, stress accumulates and resilience decreases.

For individuals recovering from brain injuries or navigating prolonged stress, sleep becomes even more important for supporting the brain’s natural recovery processes.

Restoration may include:

• Supporting healthier sleep rhythms
• Reducing cognitive fatigue
• Improving emotional stability
• Addressing patterns of prolonged stress

Recovery is not passive.
It is foundational.

As part of Sleep Awareness Week, what is one habit that has helped improve your sleep?

At eTMS, protection includes:

• Careful intake and screening
• Ongoing monitoring throughout treatment
• Adjustment based on individual response
• Clear communication and professional supervision

Protecting capacity today supports resilience tomorrow.

Zach “Guff” McGuffey first came to eTMS Ohio as a patient.

A former Marine infantryman, he came with one clear goal: To be able to go to sleep without relying on alcohol.

After completing his four-week program, that goal became reality.

Nearly a year later, he says he’s still able to read his daughter her books and go right to bed.

Today, McGuff is no longer just a former patient —
he’s a neurotechnician in our Cincinnati office.

He now serves the same veteran and first responder community he has supported for 14 years — this time helping others on their journey.

His story is one of service, purpose, and lived experience.

Education plays an important role in understanding how the brain supports daily function.

Brain regulation influences areas such as sleep, focus, and emotional balance. When these systems are disrupted, the effects may show up in ways that feel subtle or difficult to explain.

Increasing awareness helps individuals better understand their experiences and supports informed conversations around brain health.
