Going through the Big D and we do mean Dallas. No matter what your emergency, we will get you where you need to be. In this particular case, the closest needed service was located in Dallas, Tx. We were honored to be able to care for this patient and get her where she needed to be in a timely manner.

When someone calls 911 for help, EMS is activated, and emergency medical responders arrive to meet you where you are. Day or night, rain or shine, these emergency professionals will respond to any illness or injury and give you the best pre-hospital care possible. Most of the time, they treat you and get you to where you need to be. But, when minutes matter, and you are living in rural USA, these amazing emergency professionals call on us to help get you there faster.

We love working with our local EMS providers who make our job easy. When they call us, we know that they will have already done a full patient assessment and began the care that we will continue en route. We work closely with several surrounding EMS agencies to make sure this transfer of patient care is smooth and efficient. These close relationships ensure that you get the best prehospital treatment from the moment you call 911 to the moment you are dropped off at the most appropriate facility.

Today, we were able to work alongside Colorado County EMS and go over aircraft safety and loading procedures with their new hire orientation group. We look forward to working alongside these new members of CCEMS as they grow in their EMS careers. Who knows, maybe one of them will be flying with us in the future!

Although our nurses possess extensive emergency and critical care experience, many have never provided care in a prehospital setting prior to flight. They may be unfamiliar with the back of an ambulance, the scene of a major motor vehicle accident, or a dying patient's home. This environment is distinctly different, lacking nearby physicians, bright lighting, and adjustable beds. Fortunately, our exceptional preceptors and paramedics help facilitate a seamless transition from hospital to field.

In this picture, Liz, a new flight nurse, undergoes training with us at Med 7 as a third rider, gaining hands-on experience in the field. This is her first scene call, where she assumes care of a pediatric patient involved in an ATV accident from a paramedic in the back of an ambulance and determines the best course of action to transport the patient across a bumpy field to the aircraft. This experience is entirely new for her, and she performs admirably while learning a great deal.

Our critical care team, comprising a flight paramedic and a flight nurse, delivers the best care from both worlds directly to your doorstep when you need it most.

Although Emergency Nurses Week is ending, it's not too late to acknowledge the exceptional work of our Med 7 flight nurses. Their diverse experience and knowledge significantly enhance our team's capabilities. We appreciate the opportunity to work alongside them to deliver quality care.
