National Donate Life Month, celebrated annually in April, raises awareness about donation, encourages Americans to register as organ, eye, and tissue donors, and honors those who have saved lives through the gift of donation. We want to recognize the collaborative efforts across multiple CRH departments and the care and compassion shown to families during the donation process.

According to the Indiana Donor Network, the following reflects 2025 donations from our health system:
💙 156 organ referrals
💚 1 organ donor
🧡 2 organs donated (kidneys)
💙 2 lives saved with organ donation
💚 9 tissue donors
🧡 675 lives saved/healed with tissue donation

Tyrese Haliburton says “YES” to organ donation. DO YOU? 💛💙

Congratulations to Marie Abbott, with CRH General Surgery, on receiving a Poppy Award!

A grateful patient requested giving Marie a "5-star rating" after a telephone call with the General Surgery office regarding her care. The patient was so grateful for all of the time and patience Marie had when answering her questions, walking her through next steps, and explaining information about the practice. She said she did not feel rushed at all, that Marie was very kind, positive, and thoughtful, and went above and beyond to ensure each question she had was answered.

Congratulations Marie!

Parents: Help Your Little Tech Whiz Be a Bookworm, Too 📚

Technology is everywhere — including in schools, moving toward digital learning.

With all this tech, you may wonder: Are books still a big deal? The answer is a resounding “YES!” While e-readers are an option, research suggests more benefits come from physical books.

Reading with your child doesn’t just improve their literacy. It also helps kids:
📕 Gain language skills.
📘 Build a stronger bond with you. Storytime helps you slow down and connect.
📗 Learn about the world and enhance their general knowledge, making it easier to learn in school and encourages empathy and compassion.
📙 Understand emotions. A story's characters have a wide range of feelings and children can relate those feelings to their own experiences.

💫DYK: Columbus Regional Health has a High-Risk Breast Clinic?

Sasha Edmondson, NP-C, RNFA, CGRA, and a multidisciplinary team across the health system, treats patients who are at high risk for breast cancer through the High-Risk Breast Clinic.

Navigating breast health concerns can be stressful. Our goal is to provide clarity, support, and access to the latest in breast health monitoring and prevention. Through advanced imaging, genetic counseling, and personalized care plans, we partner with you to take proactive steps toward your long-term health.

It is important to talk to your provider about your risk, because individual risk factors, such as family history, medical history, and breast density can affect a woman’s personal lifetime risk for developing breast cancer.
