Congratulations! AdventHealth is growing.

The North Carolina Supreme Court has declined to take up the final appeal challenging AdventHealth’s Certificate of Need for a new hospital in Weaverville. This decision clears the way for us to move forward with plans to expand access to high quality whole-person care in Western North Carolina.

As this process moves ahead, we also remain focused on the community’s growing needs. A public hearing for AdventHealth’s separate 129-bed Certificate of Need application is scheduled for Tuesday, December 16, providing another opportunity for community input on the future of care in the region.

Employees at AdventHealth Polk participated in the annual gingerbread house competition again this year. Trustees from The Hospital Foundation, Linda Schutter, Tom Trobaugh, Linda Greensfelder, Bill Miller, Ben Ellington, and Juli Haynie chose this year's winner. 3rd place - Pink Ribbon House - was created by Darby Craig, 2nd place - After Helene - was created by Foothills Medical, 1st Place & People's Choice - High Rise- was created by AdventHealth Polk's Environmental Services. Congratulations to all of our winners, and thank you to everyone who participated.

Earlier this year, AdventHealth Polk and The Hospital Foundation celebrated the accomplishment of long-time volunteer and benefactor, Ms. Mary Duncan. Today we ask you to keep Mary's family and friends in your prayers as they cope with her passing. Mary's warm smile and friendly greeting were a blessing to everyone she met.

Jared Keresoma, VP of AdventHealth Polk, received the arrangements on behalf of the hospital. Tiffany has cared for patients in Polk County for years, and she’s returning to serve the community she calls home. Tryon Painters & Sculptors partners with AdventHealth Polk to share beautiful artwork as part of the Healing Arts program. Carlann recently sold a painting she had on display at hospital, with a portion of the proceeds going to The Hospital Foundation.
