White chalky patches on the nail can simply be a result of excessive dehydration of the keratin molecules on the nail surface, causing keratin granulations. It is generally caused by wearing nail polish for too long, using dehydrating nail polish remover too often, or constantly exposing your nails to harsh or drying chemicals (like cleaning products, for example). All of these products can dry out the nails, causing the keratin molecules of the nail plate to clump together into chalky-looking formations.
The best way to get rid of keratin granulation is to give your nails a several-week-long break from nail polish, nail polish remover and chemicals in conjunction with using moisturizers and/or hand creams to replenish the moisture balance of the nails.

What is Gout in the Ankle?

Gout in the ankle is when there is too much uric acid in the blood. The extra uric acid forms crystals that build up in the ankle joint. The crystals cause a lot of inflammation and pain, which is usually sudden and is called a gout attack.

5 Subtle Warning Signs of Foot Conditions You Shouldn't Ignore ...

You should never ignore persistent foot pain, slow-healing sores, numbness/tingling, swelling/redness/warmth, or changes in foot shape/nail health, as these can signal serious issues like fractures, infections, nerve damage (neuropathy from diabetes), circulation problems, or worsening arthritis or bunions that need prompt attention from a doctor or podiatrist.

Trauma

When the nail plate separates from the nail bed far enough, it will continue to separate.

Nails are flexible, they move with our steps.

The best treatment in my opinion, is to cut back what is not attached and let it grow back out.

Do not try this at home, as this is done very carefully.

Involuted (or pincer) toenails are nails that curve downward into the side skin folds (sulci), often causing pain, redness, swelling, and potential infections, commonly affecting the big toe. Causes include genetic predisposition, improper footwear, fungal infections, trauma, or improper nail cutting. Treatment involves podiatric care, including regular trimming, bracing, or, in severe cases, nail surgery.

This was a mild case, cutting back the nail further than normal. Thinning the nail from underneath, while cleaning out and thinning down the sides. (lateral nail folds)
