Many of these students already understand the power of unions 🤝📣 and how collective action protects nurses 🛡️, strengthens the profession 💪, and improves patient care ❤️‍🩹. This next generation is ready to lead. ✊

More than 600 nurses, healthcare professionals, and federal workers filled a Cincinnati gathering last night, united in grief for ICU nurse Alex Pretti and in their call for justice and accountability for his killing 💔

“Nurses are already confronting a patient care crisis driven by chronic understaffing and escalating workplace violence,” said ONA President Rick Lucas in a letter to Ohio’s congressional delegation. “Layering aggressive federal enforcement actions onto these conditions creates yet another manufactured crisis— one nurses did not create, patients cannot afford, and communities should not have to endure.”

The vigil drew over 600 attendees, according to the Ohio Nurses Association. People from the Registered Nurses Association, National Nurses United and the Cincinnati Labor Council were in attendance.
