Insight has suspended hospital operations yet again in the Mahoning Valley — leaving patients, nurses, and entire communities without the care they rely on. This isn’t an accident. It’s the result of repeated corporate failures by Insight and Dr. Shah.

💬 Rick Lucas, RN, ONA President:
“Every day without functioning hospitals puts lives at risk. Hillside and Trumbull Regional must be reopened and run by a responsible, competent organization that actually cares about patient care.”

ONA is calling on state leaders to intervene immediately. Healthcare is not a bargaining chip. The Valley deserves accountability, oversight, and a real plan to restore safe, reliable care.

Families deserve better — they deserve action now.

🌍 On this International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, we lift the nurses, techs, and health professionals who always deserve safety and dignity at work.

💪💜 Violence and abuse have no place in healthcare. Together, let’s push for stronger protections, safer workplaces, and a culture where health professionals are valued, respected, and shielded from harm.

Hospitals must do better to protect their patients, visitors, and staff. After a recent violent incident, The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center acknowledged that key steps in its post-event notification process were missed, delaying critical support for the nurse and staff involved. They’ve stated they're working to ensure this never happens again, but nurses need action, not promises. 🩺

Ohio leaders are speaking out:
📊 Rep. Allison Russo and Sen. Bill DeMora for Ohio highlighted that Wexner Medical Center reported 402 violent incidents in 2024, most involving assaults on hospital employees.

🛡️ Their message is clear: hospitals must strengthen safety by preserving video and incident reports, improving security protocols, adding protection in high-risk units, and bargaining in good faith with nurses and union members on workplace violence prevention.

💬 Sen. DeMora didn’t hold back: “I love my university, but it is absolutely ridiculous that they are unable to protect their nurses… Our nurses are essential and deserve to focus on providing the best care. I hope OSU implements the unions’ common-sense demands.” Nurses and health professionals deserve safety every shift, every unit, and every hospital. ✊❤️

The attack happened on Nov. 6, according to a nurse's union.
