Red Flag Warning is in effect for 33 counties in Nebraska, including Boone, Colfax, Nance and Platte counties. The warning is in effect until 9 p.m. tonight and again tomorrow (Saturday, March 28) from 9 a.m. - 10 p.m.

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior. Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.

Epilepsy Awareness Day
Epilepsy can get in the way of life, especially when seizures keep happening. They may make it hard to work, go to school, drive, or socialize. Epilepsy medicines can make you feel tired, weak, or forgetful.

CDC supports the Epilepsy Foundation's Helpline. Calls are answered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, in English and Spanish. Specialists will answer your questions and connect you to resources where you live. You can also look up a resource online.

Did You Know?
➡️38.4 million Americans—or about 11.6% of the U.S. population—have diabetes.
➡️8.7 million Americans are unaware that they have diabetes.
➡️Approximately 97.6 million people ages 18 or older have prediabetes, a condition in which blood glucose levels are higher than normal but not high enough to be diagnosed as diabetes.
➡️More than 1 in 3 U.S. adults has prediabetes.
➡️About half of women with gestational diabetes go on to develop type 2 diabetes. Gestational diabetes is a type of diabetes that women develop when they are pregnant.

The sooner you know if you’re at risk, the sooner you can take steps to prevent or manage diabetes. If you have a family history of diabetes, have overweight, or are not physically active, you have a greater chance of developing type 2 diabetes. You are also more likely to develop type 2 diabetes as you get older. All adults ages 35 or older should get tested for diabetes and prediabetes.
