CMA Affiliate COTS was recently highlighted by Ohio State for a collaborative effort to advance community‑driven solutions in healthcare.

COTS collaborated with Ohio State researchers at the Center for Urban and Regional Analysis (CURA) to map opioid recovery gaps across Franklin County, helping identify where support is needed most and informing more targeted pathways to care.

Partnering across community organizations is critical to help gather meaningful data, identify service gaps, and turn insight into action.

In February, CMA members State Senator Beth Liston and State Representative Anita Somani, MD hosted a roundtable discussion focused on the vital role free clinics play across Ohio. They were joined by many other leaders including Physicians CareConnection President Isi Green.

Collaborative, candid conversations like these bring people together, strengthen the connection between healthcare providers and policymakers, and help spark continued momentum for the essential work free clinics do across our communities.

As the healthcare workforce continues to shrink and burnout rises, it has never been more important for physicians to care for their mental, emotional, and physical well‑being.

Brought to you by the Columbus Medical Association Foundation, our Doc to Doc Peer Support Program provides confidential, physician‑led support funded by the Foundation’s commitment to physician well‑being.

This program connects Ohio physicians with an empathetic network of trained peers who truly understand what it means to walk in your shoes. Support typically takes place over 1–2 sessions, and if additional mental health care or coaching is needed, referrals can be coordinated.

Help is here when you need it.

Made for Medicine physicians and medical student volunteers recently spent the day with sixth graders at Champion Middle School, leading hands-on stations in CPR, vitals, case studies, and splinting and fracture care.

“Outreach is our way of bringing the unique programming of Made for Medicine to future physicians across Central Ohio and connecting them with physicians in their community,” shared Founder and president Dr. Laura Espy-Bell.

“We are planting the seeds now to create tomorrow's doctors.”
