Made for Medicine physicians and medical student volunteers recently spent the day with sixth graders at Champion Middle School, leading hands-on stations in CPR, vitals, case studies, and splinting and fracture care.

“Outreach is our way of bringing the unique programming of Made for Medicine to future physicians across Central Ohio and connecting them with physicians in their community,” shared Founder and president Dr. Laura Espy-Bell.

“We are planting the seeds now to create tomorrow's doctors.”

The CMA Foundation’s Youth Council kicked off the year with momentum.

In January, the Council awarded grant funding to two nonprofits working to expand access, support well‑being, and create meaningful opportunities for young people in our community.

💬 WAV - We Amplify Voices received $1,700 to support their Hilltop Spring Jamboree, an outdoor mental health resource fair that brings community‑building activities to children and families through music, art, and expression.

⚽ Athletes to Aid was awarded $1,650 for their Free Winter Soccer Program. Each week, student mentors volunteer their time to ensure youth facing financial barriers can participate in organized sports. This funding helps sustain their mission through the rest of winter.

These grants reflect the Youth Council’s commitment to ensuring that young voices drive real impact, from mental health to creative expression and accessible recreation.

We’re proud of these student leaders and the meaningful change they continue to spark throughout Columbus!
