Because of their ancestral roots, the transliteration of the word "Zeneize," which identifies a citizen of Genova in the local dialect, became the moniker for the entire team and its fanbase.

🧾 A problem with the sources we rely on is that they were created by people. We often come across records pertaining to the same individual that bear contradicting information, due to a variety of factors, including inaccurate recall, unknown origins, and analphabetism. A meticulous approach to genealogical research is the only way to determine which information is accurate.

🗄️ In this case, the discrepancy is twofold: the original name was 'Sebastiano' but subsequent records show variants such as 'Sebastaino', clearly due to a typo or mispelling, and 'Sebastian', which is a clear case of anglicization.
