These are the core values the AOTA outlines for occupational therapy.

I strive to live up to these values every day.

My business exists to help people live well, ✨on their own terms✨

I will never tell someone how to live their life.

My goal is to first learn, listen, and truly understand the person I am serving before offering feedback or facilitating change.

These same values are why I am calling my senators to request their support for the removal of ICE from Minnesota and to address unlawful practices across America.

My approach is for all people.
All people deserve to feel capable, respected, and safe where they live 🪷

Reflecting back on 2025, I feel so much gratitude for the quality time I had with my family.

I also feel sorrow for losing my grandma, but peace in knowing she lived a full life and passed on her own terms, in her own home.

It reminds me that there isn’t much I wouldn’t do to give that opportunity to the people I love. A full life lived on their terms.
That’s why I started I’ll Stay Home last year 🪷

My goal is to give families as much quality time as possible, to reduce the special moments lost, and to bring peace and dignity to our aging loved ones.

As we enter a new year, I’ll ask you this:
If there were a way to help keep your loved ones safer, reduce their risk of falling, support chronic disease self-management, and maintain physical wellness would you do it?

Give I’ll Stay Home a call.
We’re here to help.

A new year doesn’t change our purpose.
In 2026, we’re here just as we’ve always been, removing barriers, adapting homes, and protecting dignity so you or your loved ones can stay safely at home.

Live where you want.
Do what you want.
For as long as you want.

Independence doesn’t have to disappear with age, injury, or chronic illness but it does need the right support.

That support includes skilled occupational therapy to address functional deficits, improve safety, and help people do the daily activities that matter most.

We’re here to give you that support 🪷614-500-4012

Recently, I completed a home evaluation for someone living with severe chronic pain.

Their pain is so significant that they only try to go upstairs to their second-floor shower once a month. Leaving the house isn’t really possible either, not because they don’t want to, but because they depend on a mobility scooter and don’t have transportation that can safely carry its weight.

What stayed with me wasn’t just the physical barriers.
It was how small their world had quietly become and how long they had been struggling through.

Even though I work every day in aging, disability, and changes in function, this experience reminded me how easy it is to take our own health for granted. I have the ability to adapt my environment, use pain science to manage discomfort, and modify my activities so I can still do the things I love. That isn’t true for everyone (unless connected to resources).

When we don’t see someone’s struggle day to day, it’s easy to miss how chronic illness or pain can slowly shrink a person’s world until even basic self-care feels overwhelming.

If you’re struggling to do the things you love or even just to get through daily self-care, please know you are not alone. Even if it feels like no one around you understands, there are people who do. Asking for help is not weakness.

And if you’re someone who currently has good health, let’s be mindful not to let how easily we move through the world cloud our perspective or our privilege.

As for my client. They are one step closer to a first floor roll in shower and better quality of life.

Have you found yourself wondering or even googling ā€˜How can I keep mom from needing to go back to the hospital?’

Reducing readmissions usually starts at home.

At I’ll Stay Home 🪷, proactive healthcare means stepping in before a crisis, not waiting for someone to decline enough to land back in the hospital.

As a mobile outpatient service, we’re able to:
āœ”ļø Work with insurance
āœ”ļø Provide care in the home
āœ”ļø Stay on the proactive side of healthcare, not just reactive

We help reduce hospital readmissions by:
• Preventing falls
• Improving medication safety
• Supporting chronic condition self-management
• Addressing functional & cognitive changes early
• Educating and supporting caregivers
• Closing the gap after hospital discharge

Most readmissions don’t begin with deciding to call an ambulance.
They begin with missed meds, fatigue, confusion, or unsafe mobility at home.

Proactive care changes that.

Wondering if I’ll Stay Home can help your loved one? We’d love to chat!

Aging in Place Gift Favorites šŸŖ·šŸŽ

Before we jump in, I want to acknowledge something important:
This season of giving is financially hard for many families. This guide isn’t meant to shame anyone who can’t afford gifts right now. Please take care of yourselves first.

For those who are able to give this year, I encourage you to consider supporting a local nonprofit in your loved one’s honor — especially organizations that help older adults, caregivers, or neighbors in need. Sometimes the most meaningful gift isn’t a ā€œthingā€ at all.

That said, if you’re looking for practical, aging-in-place friendly ideas, here are my OT-approved favorites that truly make home safer and more accessible:

🪷 Toilet safety frame
🪷 Tub transfer bench + hand-held shower head
🪷 Motion-detector night lights
🪷 Detachable car handle
🪷 Bidet attachment

And here are some non-stuff gifts:

🪷 Sponsor a loved one’s Home Safety visit from I’ll Stay Home
🪷 Hire a dog walker, snow removal service, or housekeeping help
🪷 Donate to a local nonprofit in your loved one’s honor
🪷 Cover a month of transportation, meals, or support services

Thoughtful gifts don’t have to be fancy — they just need to make life a little safer, easier, or brighter.

Have you been struggling with day-to-day tasks at home?
Maybe getting in and out of the tub feels harder than it used to… or making a simple meal in the kitchen has become overwhelming.

And maybe you’ve even been told you don’t qualify for home health.
🪷 That’s okay — you still have options.

I’ll Stay Home is a mobile outpatient occupational therapy clinic, which means:
-We come directly to you
-We can work with your insurance
-You get support tailored to your home, your routines, and your goals

I’ll Stay Home helps you live life fully and safely at home — with confidence, strength, and independence.

If you’ve been putting off getting help, consider this your sign.

Ohio had its first snow of the season this week. So let’s bust out the winter weather fall prevention tips I’d tell you if I wasn’t scared of hurting your feelings ā„ļøšŸŖ·

1. Your driveway and steps aren’t ā€œfine.ā€
If there’s ice, uneven bricks, or packed snow, you will slip eventually. Clear it, salt it, or ask a neighbor or family member for help before you walk on it.

2. Your balance is not what it used to be.
Strength and balance training can drastically reduce your fall risk. You can improve this at ANY age.

3. You’re carrying too much at once.
Groceries (or your large trash can) + ice + winter boots = a fall waiting to happen. Make multiple trips or ask someone to help.

4. Those shoes you ā€œalways wearā€? Not winter-safe.
Get footwear with good tread and support. Practice walking in them before the snow and ice come.

5. Don’t try to be a hero.
Your steps and walkways are probably slicker than they look. There is a lot of honor in asking for help and keeping yourself safe.

6. Remember what my dad always says: ā€œnature always winsā€
Ice, gravity, and winter weather don’t care how careful or experienced you are, respect the conditions, not your pride.

7. Keep your phone on you.
Not in the house. Not on the counter. On you. If you do slip, having your phone within reach can be the difference between a quick assist and a dangerous wait in the cold.

🪷 I’ll Stay Home helps older adults build strength, balance, and confidence so winter feels far less risky and you can keep living life in your terms.

November is National Family Caregivers Month

Behind every person aging in place is a support system: a spouse, a child, a friend, an aide. All dedicated caregivers who provide love, physical and emotional support, and help improve quality of life.

At I’ll Stay Home, we see firsthand how vital caregivers are in helping loved ones remain safe, independent, and engaged at home. This month (and every month), we celebrate you, the quiet heroes, whose work isn’t easy.

✨Caregivers: Caring for yourself is part of caring for your loved one. This should never be ignored and you should not feel shame for prioritizing your needs ✨

If you’re feeling overwhelmed or unsure how to make caregiving safer and easier at home, we can help. Occupational therapy supports both you and your loved one with practical strategies, home modifications, and education that reduces stress and promotes independence.

🪷 Caregiving work is invaluable but you don’t have to do it alone. Reach out to learn how we can support your caregiving journey.
