With the Winter Olympic Games wrapped up, we’re taking a moment to celebrate one of our own Spring Harbor residents who has lived the Olympic dream. 🇺🇸
Larry Mosely competed in the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome as part of the U.S. Rapid Fire Pistol Team. His journey began in the United States National Guard during the Korean War, where he first learned to fire a pistol. That skill led him to the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit and eventually onto the Olympic stage.
Larry went on to win three gold medals at the CISM Military World Games and earned Gold and Silver at the 1963 Pan American Games in São Paulo. Beyond marksmanship, he served with distinction in the 1st Infantry Division during the Tet Offensive and retired as a Sergeant Major.
These days, you’ll find Larry in the gym living by his motto: “It is better to wear out than to rust out.” And when he’s not there, he’s spending time with his wife Trudy—his biggest supporter. The two celebrated 70 years of marriage this January.
Larry’s story reminds us that greatness is built over a lifetime—both on and off the field.
