THIS is why I am so proud to be one of the core faculty of the Made for Medicine program! Cohort #1 has completed their first cycle and white coat ceremony 🥼🙌🏾

My friend, Dr. Laura Espy-Bell ( )founded the program with the goal that in the next 10 years, we will see a difference from the current statistics 📉 📈 📊 !!

Excited to serve the children of Columbus in a new, unique position! Joining the Nationwide Children’s team of Administrative Medical Directors to continue building strong relationships with Community Pediatricians. 👩🏾‍⚕️🧑‍⚕️👨🏽‍⚕️

I was born and raised in Driving Park (shout-out Fairwood & Livingston!) where Nationwide Children’s is physically located. As a pre-teen, I volunteered by loaning out VHS tapes to patients in the old Nationwide Children’s hospital lobby. As a pediatric resident, Nationwide literally became my home. This is both a homecoming and a new beginning.
🏥

I am following two of my good friends and mentors in this role (Dr. Lee Budin and Dr. Jennifer White!) These are big shoes to fill, so I plan to lead with an open mind and a soft heart…ready to learn and listen to our community.

(And don’t worry, I’m still your baby’s full time doctor at Building Blocks Pediatrics!) I am super excited to serve the local pediatric community in this new capacity 🙌🏾

To say this has been a tough week would be an understatement. The balance of running my practice during the pandemic, managing e-learning for my children and cooking dinner every night has been draining. I was feeling a bit defeated after work today when I received this image made just for me by my friend (a Pediatric ER/Urgent Care physician herself) and her daughter. I cried real tears 😭!! .

Happy 2020 Family! Although we are only 1 month into the year, so much has happened around the world and in our local community over the past 30 days. I have been inspired by the NEW YEAR to wake every morning with the intention to LIVE fully and minimize my regrets. This means spending more TIME with those we love and DOING the activities that bring us JOY. So, I am posting our Nipsey Hussle inspired favorite photo and planning to take a social media break over the next month or so. If you know me, you know FEBRUARY is my favorite month of the year- so here I go to ENJOY!

Happy from the Cultural Wall at King-Lincoln District. This 240-foot mural stretches across the Long Street bridge with photographs and print work showing the rich history of Columbus and King-Lincoln Bronzeville. In the 1960's, construction of I-71 cut off King-Lincoln from the City's center. This bridge/mural reconnects downtown to Bronzeville both literally and artistically.
