ALIGNMENT 2021 ➡️ READ FULL CAPTION

For almost 9 years, I have been a personal trainer. Training has been my constant through college graduation, getting my first big girl job, moving across the country, getting married, moving back home, building a house, and all of the other life changes that happen in your 20s. It has been my outlet, my passion, my “why.” YOU have all been my why.

3 years ago, I was living in a brand new city (🖤Seattle) and hated my corporate job so took the leap to make this passion my full-time job, and so EnCourage was born. For 10 months, I was able to spend all day, every day doing what I love. Inspiring, motivating, training, building relationships, and, most importantly, watching my clients grow and transform. It was a dream come true.

Since life never goes according to plan, we moved back home to Cbus after those 10 months. I went back to my old corporate job (that I love) while continuing to build the EnCourage platform and clients “on the side.”

The last 3 years have been nothing but joyful! I have learned so much from each and every one of you. We built a virtual community during an unprecedented and once in a lifetime pandemic. We have inspired one another. Motivated each other. Laughed together. Cried together. And most definitely have sweat it all out together.

After months of pushing myself to “give it all” in every aspect of my life- work, on this digital platform, my clients, my family, my friends- I have reached an understanding that sometimes you just can’t “do it all.” Our bodies need rest. Our minds need rest. And, although that goes against everything a perfectionist believes, I am learning that that’s okay.

As I have reflected on the theme of ALIGNMENT for 2021, I have realize that I need to give 100% of my attention, my heart, my energy, my knowledge, my creativity, my love, my efforts, and my strength to my current clients.

I am going to be taking a step back from this platform, and I will not be accepting any new clients this year.

It is really difficult to “step away” from something that you love. From PEOPLE that you love. But, for now, it is the best thing for my clients, for my family, and for me.

THANK YOU for your support, motivation, dedication, and inspiration! Whether you’ve been with me for all 9 years, since starting EnCourage 3 years ago, or just in the past year or last few months, you mean the WORLD to me!

Keep pushing. Keep sweating. Keep believing in YOU. And keep EnCouraging Change in yourself, in your community, and in this world.

I love you all!

All of our workouts and past content will stay right here for you ALWAYS. After all, this is a “see ya later,” not a goodbye.
And if you’re interested in what I’ll be up to this year personally, feel free to follow along .i.waugh .

THANK YOU. THANK YOU. THANK YOU. Xo

Every year I come up with a word to define the coming year. It sets intention for how I want to live my life.

My words for 2020 were GRATITUDE + PRESENCE. I wanted to slow down and appreciate the moment. Well, the pandemic really hit that out of the park so I was able to focus on those intentions every second of every day. 🤍

My word for 2021 is ALIGNMENT. Aligning my passion and purpose with my every day life to feel whole and at peace. I am excited to focus in, evaluate, and constantly reevaluate to be in alignment. ✨

This year was a challenge, that’s for sure. It was full of pain, hardship, uncertainty, and chaos. But before we start thinking about all the reasons we should forget 2020, think about all the things we should remember.

Thank about how much you’ve accomplished.

Think about how much you’ve persevered.

Think about how much resilience you’ve shown.

Think about how much you’ve grown.

Think about how much you’ve changed. And how much the world is changing alongside you.

This year was tough. But you are tougher. 💪

Keep pushing through and reaching for more. You have proven that you can do absolutely anything!

HAPPY NEW YEAR! ✨

Daily walks with this kiddo have been my saving grace to sub in for running. 🖤
This week, be on the lookout for some previews of the workouts I’ve been doing to stay active + strong while still protecting my injury. These workouts will look a bit different (and you may be happy to know there are very few to no burpees 😂), but they are effective at building muscle and changing body composition. 💪
Anyway, for this Saturday:
Workout ☑️
Long walk through the park on deck
What are your plans this weekend?!
Stay healthy. Stay strong! We are all in this together 🤍

It’s been over a month since my last real, sweaty workout.
It’s the first time I’ve taken this much time off in 5 years.
This time, it’s not a doctor telling me I can’t. It’s not a boot or a stress fracture holding me back. This time, it’s a muscular issue. This time, it’s a doctor’s recommendation. This time, it’s a choice. And I’m choosing to get well.
I started to feel this pain 2 months ago. I tried to do my own therapy at home- stretching, resting, rolling. But the pain just continued to get worse as I continued to run, continued to jump, and continued to push myself.
When I finally gave into the fact that this was an injury that I needed to heal, I went to see my physical therapist to come up with a treatment plan. I asked her point blank if I could run. She looked me directly in the eye and asked me, “Is the release you get from running worth the pain you are feeling now?”
That hit me hard.
Is it worth it?
I had to think about it. I had to really think about it. Running is my therapy. Running keeps me happy. Running gives me energy. Running makes me, me.
But if I don’t treat this, if I don’t heal… then maybe running won’t be an option in one year, five years, ten years.
Maybe I won’t be able to jump or hike or do HIIT workouts.
That wouldn’t be worth it.
So this season may look a little bit different than normal. My body may look a little bit different. My IG feed may not be filled with new content daily or even weekly. My Apple Watch move goal has dropped every week as I focus on low impact training and therapy. But this is an important season that I am choosing to take to get healthy and to get well.
Take care of yourself today. Treat your body with respect. It will have profound impact on your future.🖤

Welp. It looks like we’re in a major hypertrophy phase for the foreseeable future 🤷‍♀️💪
I have a left glute injury that has finally gotten to the point of needing treatment (and rest). Thank goodness for the amazing from Empower Physio & Wellness for helping me along this journey! 🖤
It’s been exactly 2 weeks since my last run, and it’ll be a while until my next. Running is my happy place. My therapy. It makes me feel like me. It is always, always excruciating to take a running break for an injury. But I am dedicated to getting healthy before hitting the pavement again. Please pray for my husband and his sanity in the meantime 😂
My focus now is upper body and core strength and lower body therapy for the next couple of months. It’ll be different. It’ll be hard. But it’ll be worth it to exercise pain free again!
This is your PSA to listen to your body, always. When it asks for a break, it needs a break. When there is pain, stop. I’m not the best at listening and usually end up with an overuse injury. This is, unfortunately, no different. So be better than me and listen, stretch, and rest when you need to! 👌

Sending you all the good vibes and hoping you are all staying sane and healthy!✨ Xo

Resting an injury this week and starting to go a little stir crazy 😝
Stretch.
Foam roll.
Rest.
Ice.
Repeat.
It’s important to listen to your body and take the time you need to heal. But, still, I really want to run in the beautiful fall leaves 🍁 and lift some heavy things 💪! Hopefully soon 🤞
How are you guys doing this week?! Tell me all about your workouts. Living vicariously through you! 🖤
P.S. Happy Friday Eve!
P.P.S. I am going to be breaking my test a teensy bit on Saturday with a outdoor event with 🚴‍♀️ who wants to join me?!
Happy almost weekend! ✨ xo
