​Our mission is built on the belief that sustainable change comes through providing opportunity. The reopening of the Bakery & Smoothie Shop directly supports our ministry by:

• ​Job Creation: Serving as a primary source of stable employment and vocational training for local residents, giving them valuable skills and financial independence.
• ​Community Support: Providing affordable, nutritious food options to the surrounding area, built and run by the community members we serve.

Wow!!!!!! The end of the market season has come. Another full year. We want to thank all those who came out to support us and our work. Our ministry couldn't continue if it wasn't for the support of all of you. We love you all and are so grateful to have you. Enjoy you products they truly are a labor of love. We hope to see you all again in the Spring. Have a wonderful Winter it's getting cold and snow is coming. Let's dress warm and stoke the fire. I will try and keep myself warm this winter as well. I need some fun in the sun so hopefully there will be sunny days ahead. Again thank you and see ya soon!!!!!!

They say when it rains, it pours. I want to humbly ask each and every one of you to whisper a prayer for us. We have 5 more weeks before the Farmer’s Market season comes to a close — just 9 more market days and 2 events to go.

Our biggest challenge right now is transportation. The vehicle we use to carry all of our products is on its last leg. I recently received some discouraging news: the cam phasers are nearly gone. My mechanic advised me not to put any more money into repairs — just to drive it until it finally gives out.

Oh boy, do you know what that feels like? It’s like sitting on pins and needles. As I drive, it misfires off and on. I find myself praying all the way to my destination, and praying all the way back home. Each time, I thank God for His mercy in getting us there safely.

Through it all, my faith remains strong. I know that God is in control of every detail, even this one. 🙏

Because of your generosity and encouragement, we were able to continue raising funds for our Faith-Based Organization. Our current goal is to purchase our very first set of Dutch ovens so we can keep growing the work in Ghana — baking our gluten-free sourdough breads and sharing hope with the community there.

Our Story

One day about 11 years ago, I had a thought...what can I do to make a little money for myself and my four children and still be at home with them full time? I was a homeschooling mom, who was very active in their lives. We went everywhere together. But for years I had been running my own daycare/foster care business, now I wanted to give my young children more of my time. So I started looking into soaping and at first I was afraid. Those that know me know I am such a chicken and oh...a cry baby too. :) But I said okay let’s keep researching. A few years went by {2010}, and I found myself suddenly being a single mom and now it wasn’t just to spend time with my children but a means of support. So I watched every Youtube video, read every book I could find, talked to people, visited stores, etc. you name it, I did it. So I got a supply list and how much it would all cost. I knew I didn’t have the money, I didn’t know where to turn. Here it is I have these four children, no money, no resources, but I knew they had to eat, they needed cloths, the rent was due, the electric bill was due, and so many other things so I began to pray. I looked at discount stores, thrift shops, dollar stores, and begged God to supply the money {I’m crying even as I write this}, for everything I needed. I knew it would take faith for all this to be accomplished but I knew God loved me and wanted the best and would not only supply all the money, and materials but would give me the strength to carry this burden with Him right by my side. So little by little every penny that I could get went towards materials. God would put certain items in just the right place at the right time within “my” small budget. As I gathered all the supplies, oils, and tools ie. internet, Microsoft Word Documents here birthed a soaping business. I was excited, scared, nervous, and joyful all in the same breath. I didn’t know what to expect. There was so much I didn’t know, so much to learn, and seems as there was no time to learn it all, BUT I DID! GOD DID IT! So in 2014 I was now able to put all this work and effort to the test. I made my first batch of soap. It came out nice, I was meticulous about following the instructions to the tee. The more I soaped the more addicted I became. The ideas that ran through my head, the things I thought of doing, all not only came to mind but I also made soap and lots of it. Now to give it a name. The name Sabunit was given to it which in Kalenjin just means soap! Ahh! is just a joyful expression of what you will feel once you use one of our bars. And there you have it Ahh! Sabunit {pronounced Sah-bu-nee}.
