💚 This National Eating Disorders Awareness Week 2026 which begins today, I’m proud to partner with as a Collaborator to spread hope and provide life-changing information and resources 💙.
We want to share a message:
Eating disorders affect 30 million Americans across all ages, sizes, races, genders, and backgrounds.
Too often, people go unseen or unsupported due to stigma, misinformation, and barriers to care. This , we come together to fight for change, commit to change, and remind everyone that every body belongs.
Primary care providers are often the first point of contact. Speaking up, asking questions, and requesting referrals can make a real difference for yourself or someone you care about.
Eating disorders don’t have “a look” and for my fellow colleagues who are MDs, PAs, NPs, RNs who treat people and don’t specialize in eating disorders, a gentle message:
* If a patient has the courage to admit to you that they have an eating disorder and are larger in size, do NOT respond with,
“You don’t look like you have
an eating disorder.”
* If a patient doesn’t want to get weighed inquire why (they may have an eating disorder).
* Lastly, if you think one of your patients has an eating disorder, refer out to the appropriate treatment providers for referral.
💙 Early intervention saves lives and Every BODY belongs. Every story matters 💚
