I see lots of posts where parents are using the term "non-verbal" and to honest... I cringe a little. As a strengths-based based therapist, who presumes competence... I prefer using the term "non-speaking." Most of my clients are able to communicate in other ways. Their comprehension is pretty strong, but they don't use a lot of mouth words.

Does your child have any of these?
I love that my clients learn things to saturation and are strong visual learners. They love scripting from their favorite shows, and those scripts turn functional for them. When there is a familiar routine, their body feels safer.
Strengths-based speech therapy focuses on all these strengths. When using their strengths, they can better access their language part of the brain
