It is with great pleasure that I introduce you
to this new publication, NH for All, from
the NH Council on Developmental Disabilities
(NHCDD). We at NHCDD are dedicated
to bringing our community information,
resources, and stories of community
inclusion as part of our work.

We have worked hard this year to collaborate
and advocate for the access and wellness
that every individual with disabilities deserves.
Together with our DD Act partners,
the Disability Rights Center NH and the
Institute on Disability at UNH, we have been
battling cuts and attacks on disability related
organizations and funding that threaten years
of progress in the disability justice movement.

We must continue to advocate for the
safeguards and freedoms that ensure choice
and access in NH communities. These include
inclusion in affordable and accessible housing, competitive and integrated employment, transportation access, civic engagement
opportunities, and meaningful social and
recreational options. Everyone deserves
inclusion, regardless of the support they need.

Despite the challenges we have encountered
this past year, there is still much to celebrate.
This year marks the 35th anniversary of the
Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and also
the 50th anniversary of the DD Act. These two
important pieces of Federal legislation help
protect and defend the civil rights of people
with disabilities in the US. Please join our
efforts to create a more accessible NH.

Sincerely,
Isadora Rodriguez-Legendre
Executive Director, NH Council
on Developmental Disabilities

"Diabetes is a chronic condition that affects how the body regulates blood glucose (sugar), often requiring lifelong management of medications, diet, physical activity, and frequent monitoring. For caregivers, helping a loved one with diabetes means navigating a shifting landscape: from early diagnosis to managing complications to adapting care as health needs change. Equipping caregivers with the proper knowledge, tools, and emotional support is vital to ensuring that both the person with diabetes and the caregiver maintain the best possible quality of life. "

Our Story

We are a Family To Family Health Information Center assisting all families especially those raising and working with children having special healthcare needs and or disabilities.

NH Family Voices is staffed by parents of children and young adults with special health care needs/disabilities. As parents, we also travel through the maze of services and programs designed to help our kids, so we understand the issues that families face. We provide options and advice, offer a multitude of resources, and tap into a network of other families and professionals to help provide you with support and information.

Our Services include:

♥ Individual assistance by telephone, e-mail and social media (messaging). ♥ Help in understanding how to navigate through systems (health, human services, education, and health care financing). ♥ Assisting families to make better informed decisions about their children’s health care and be better able to participate in systems building activities in their communities and within NH. ♥ Information and resources via mail, e-mail, social media, YouTube, Pinterest and our website. ♥ A private parent to parent Facebook group of over 900 members, many of whom are also maneuvering the systems of care for their children and youth with special health care needs/disabilities. ♥ Trainings for families on topics such as healthcare financing, best practices, family/professional partnerships... and more ♥ A lending library with over 3,000 titles specifically identified for our kids and families. ♥ Parent to Parent support when you just need to talk to someone.
