I just finished reading "Atlas of the Heart", Brene Brown's latest book. One of the many reminders from this book (which I highly recommend) is the importance of words. Especially in times of conflicts, it is hard enough to name our own emotion. Naming someone else's emotions? Well, that can be treacherous territory! What can you do instead? Ask! As anyone who has taken one of our workshops knows, we are huge fans of asking curious questions. The key is being truly curious and asking in a neutral inviting tone. If the question is truly curious, it will feel genuine and non-judgmental and invite shared understanding and connection.
