The Community Free Clinic of Cabarrus County

The Community Free Clinic of Cabarrus County We help Cabarrus County residents move toward wellness by providing comprehensive healthcare. All services are free.

The Community Free Clinic is celebrating 30 years of providing free healthcare and pharmacy services to the adults of Cabarrus County who don't have insurance or access to care. Our patients are within 300% of the Federal Poverty Level, and are unable to get Medicaid, are between jobs, or are working adults who cannot get insurance through the workplace or privately because of cost. The Clinic is a primary care provider, including labwork, treatment, medications, and specialty clinics. We offer preventive, acute, and chronic disease care. We are proud to partner with providers throughout Cabarrus County through Healthnet Cabarrus's Pink Card Program for referrals. The Clinic is privately funded by grants and generous donations from the community, and is not an insurer or part of an insurance network. The Community Free Clinic is a member of the North Carolina Association of Free and Charitable Clinics (NCAFCC).

And we're walking! Some of our team members are trying out a walking program you can do at home without equipment or even much space. This program will be particularly helpful for our diabetic patients - and we'll walk with them. Check out our events calendar on our website, when beginning in January, you can come walk with us at the Clinic, or join us from home.

Good health starts with good food - and thanks to you, our community felt that love yesterday.

With the generous support of Bank of America, Whole Foods, our incredible volunteers, and caring donors, we packed and shared meals with 297 neighbors in just a few hours.

For many of our patients, access to healthy food is a daily challenge. But together, we’re making sure no one has to face that alone. The need continues, and so does our commitment to supporting our patients’ whole well-being - with your ongoing support.

Volunteers, staff, and our Board Chair gathered for a retirement luncheon for our office administrative assistant Loretta Williams. Tomorrow is our last day with us. Please join us in wishing her well into her next chapter of traveling, event planning, relaxing, and volunteering. We'll miss her solid support daily, but are excited for her to enjoy her next chapter.

Thanks to Bank of America, where employees donated and bags about 150 bags of holiday foods for patients, and volunteers who picked up the foods to bring back to the office and unload. Next week, more volunteers will add more to the bags and patients will be able to pick up beginning on the 10th.

Our patients note that food insecurity and lack of food, is one of the greatest concerns in their lives, and that impacts their overall physical and mental health. We believe in treating people fully to get completely healthy. This gift allows us to provide a full meal or two for families, reduce stress, and focus on nutrition and health.

A big thank you to Thomas (third from left), a student at Concord High School, who provided a $450 donation to the Clinic from a bake sale that he offered.

Thomas has a strong interest in medicine because both of his parents work in healthcare, and two older sisters are studying to work in healthcare. After a class at school, Thomas learned how to make chocolate chip cookies from scratch. He baked and sent notices to neighbors and others to donate for some of his homemade goodies. "It was hard to get started, but then it was fun," he said.

Thomas's bake sale donation will help five people get access to full healthcare - a follow-up primary care appointment, lab work, community health and specialty referrals, patient navigation to specialty appointments, supplies for their care, health coaching, and over-the-counter medications.

Anne (not the patient's real name), says the Clinic is making her healthier with her medications. She would like to be able to have a job that provides insurance, but her health is so poor that she's unable to work.

The Clinic works to help people like Anne get healthy so she can work, like she wants to, and get employer-sponsored health insurance.

Your support of the Clinic allows us to help Anne and other neighbors like her so they can live, work, and play like those of us who can more easily get healthcare without huge fear of bills.

"I want to thank people who give to the Clinic, for helping others to stay healthy. It's a great cause," Anne said.

We're honored to be able to be your partner in creating a healthy community.
