Big impact for stroke survivors 💙
Thanks to grant support from Cecropia Strong, Emerson’s stroke aphasia program continues to help patients lead fuller lives as they heal. Led by speech pathologists, this small-group class helps people recovering from stroke rebuild communication skills, regain confidence, and reconnect with others who truly understand the journey. We are proud of our rehab team for creating a space that supports healing, dignity, and quality of life for patients and families.

Congratulations to our recent Daisy Award Winner, Adelaide!

Adelaide was nominated for this award for her the way she delivers warm, attentive nursing that supports patients and their families on Wheeler 4. She advocates for comfort, encourages recovery with empathy, and provides clear education to ensure safe care at home. Her compassion and skill reflect the excellence we strive for at Emerson.

If you’re starting 2026 with healthier habits, try a fresh take on a charcuterie board this weekend:

🥦 Start with half of the board dedicated to fruits & veggies
🍗 Swap the usual meats for lean proteins (like turkey, eggs, or edamame)
🥖 Add whole-grain crackers for some crunch
🧀 Fill in the rest with low-fat cheese + healthy dips (hummus, yogurt)

It’s perfect for parties, lunches, or a cozy night in, and it helps you snack smarter without sacrificing flavor.

From parties and Instagram posts to magazine covers and influencer videos, charcuterie boards are trending – and for good reason. These fun and easy platters

Sharing big news today from Emerson’s Critical Care Unit!

Our CCU nursing team earned a prestigious national honor from the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses, the 2025 Beacon Award for Excellence.

This recognition reflects the skill, compassion, and teamwork our CCU team brings to patients and families during some of their most critical moments. Special thanks to nurses Jessica Tellier and Johnna Vanhillo for leading the effort behind this achievement, and congratulations to our entire CCU team.

As the new year gets closer, we asked our providers a simple question:
Where is the best place to start when it comes to prioritizing your health?

Their answers were practical:

Start by checking in, even if you feel fine.
Get routine screenings on the calendar now so they do not get pushed off again.
If you manage an ongoing condition, make sure your plan still fits your life.
Pick one habit that feels realistic, not perfect.

To sum up their responses, it is not about doing everything at once. It is about setting yourself up for a healthier year, one step at a time.

When her doctor first mentioned bariatric surgery, she was offended. Scared. Unsure.

She felt she “wasn’t big enough” for surgery, comparing herself to extreme cases seen on television.
She was ashamed at the thought of needing surgical help.

What she did not expect was:
Support without judgment.
Honest answers instead of internet myths.
A care team that treated her like a person, not a problem to be fixed.

Today, Celina is more than 100 pounds lighter. But more importantly, she is living again.

🏃‍♀️She is training for a 5K.
💃She is teaching dance with confidence.
💪She is stronger, happier, and free from letting food control her life.

“I am living life now, not just existing." – Celina

Dr. Laura Doyon, Emerson Health bariatric surgeon, says it best:
“We do the surgery, but patients like Celina make it a success. This is a partnership. Her determination, paired with the surgery, changed her life.”

If Celina’s story sounds like your own, know that you are not alone.

Winter blues or something more? You are not alone.

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) can show up in simple ways, including:
🌨️ Feeling low or tired
🌨️Sleeping more than usual
🌨️ Craving carbs or sweets
🌨️Losing interest in things you usually enjoy
🌨️ Trouble concentrating

If this sounds familiar and lasts more than two weeks, it may be time to check in with your primary care provider.

Save this for later or share it with someone who might need it.
