Colorectal cancer is one of the most preventable cancers we face, though it’s often the one people avoid discussing. Most colorectal cancers begin as small, slow-growing polyps. With the right screening at the right time, those polyps can be found and removed before they ever turn into cancer. That’s prevention in action.

The American Cancer Society recommends screening for adults at average risk beginning at age 45. If you have a family history of colorectal cancer or advanced polyps, you may need to start even earlier. A parent, sibling, or child diagnosed before age 60 can change your timeline.

The challenge is that early colorectal cancer often has no symptoms. You can feel completely healthy and still be at risk.
That’s why awareness matters. That’s why conversations matter. Please talk to your primary care provider. Review your family history. And find out when you should schedule your screening.

Make it part of the conversation. ParagonColorectalCare.com

Hernias are more common than many people realize, and understanding them is the first step toward relief. In our educational hernia video, Brian Schmidt, MD, FACS, breaks down what a hernia is, the different types of hernias, and why treatment matters. He also explains how Paragon Surgical Specialists uses advanced, minimally invasive techniques, including robotic-assisted hernia repair, to help patients heal with less pain and faster recovery. If you or someone you love has been diagnosed with a hernia, this video is a great place to start. Knowledge leads to confident care, and we’re here to guide you every step of the way.

Happy American Heart Health Month! ❤️Your heart works nonstop, and when it struggles, the effects can show up far beyond your chest. At Paragon Surgical Specialists, we discuss your heart health as part of your overall treatment plan. Your cardiovascular system supports healing after surgery, because tissues need strong blood flow to recover. Maintaining heart health through diet, physical activity, and medical care can reduce the risk of complex surgical complications later.

Protecting your heart today can make future procedures safer and recovery smoother. American Heart Month is a great time to focus on small lifestyle changes that can make a big impact. Visit the American Heart Association website for excellent heart-healthy resources: https://bit.ly/4ttgliO

At Paragon Vein Care, we're happy to help treat spider veins when they appear (oh...and ask us about our current sclerotherapy special). But there are some steps (literally 😉) you can take to help prevent them in the first place. We’ve pulled together some ways you can start today to support healthier circulation and reduce your risk.

Spider Vein Prevention Checklist:
✅ Stay active — regular movement keeps blood flowing
✅ Take breaks from long sitting or standing sessions
✅ Elevate your legs when resting
✅ Wear compression stockings if recommended
✅ Maintain a healthy weight
✅ Protect skin from excessive sun exposure
✅ Choose shoes with good support (avoid high heels for long periods)

These everyday habits can help support vein health and overall comfort. For even more tips, check out this article:👇
