Future In Sight - formerly known as New Hampshire Association for the Blind - was founded in 1912 with the mission to advance the independence of persons who are blind and visually impaired. Over the last 107 years, the organization has grown to offer a complete range of specialized professional education and vision rehabilitation services that help babies, children, adults, and elders who have little to no vision to obtain access to a full range of services. Future In Sight is the only private, non-profit provider of statewide, comprehensive direct vision rehabilitation and educational services throughout the state of New Hampshire for persons of all ages who are blind or visually impaired. Future In Sight is working on behalf of the NH Governor's Commission on Disability to offer the NH Telecommunications Equipment Assistance Program (NH-TEAP) to residents of New Hampshire with vision loss, hearing loss, and challenges to speech and mobility.

This program helps these individuals acquire an accessible landline OR mobile phone plus provides training on how to access emergency services.

Phones are available at up to a 50% discount to individuals who qualify for the program based on the disabilities mentioned above. In some cases, the cost of the phone may be fully covered.

This month’s client spotlight is on Claudette P. from Greenville, NH.

Claudette was losing her ability to knit due to her declining vision but was able to take it up again with the help of Future In Sight. Using a lighted magnifier and a black cutting board for contrast, she knitted Christmas gifts for her loved ones last month!

Future In Sight could use your support to help advance the independence of individuals who are blind and visually impaired this winter.

There are plenty of ways to give in addition to making a monetary donation. If you are looking for something to do during the winter months, consider becoming a volunteer driver. For days you’d rather stay cozy at home, like and share our social media posts and sign up for our e-newsletter, The Monthly Magnifier, to stay informed and help educate others on what we do.

Support Future In Sight through the Walmart Spark Good Round Up Program!

Walmart.com shoppers from anywhere in the United States can round up their purchases to donate to Future In Sight. Follow these instructions to get signed up and support a good cause whenever you shop.

PD: To sign up, open the Walmart app and select the account option in the menu. Scroll down and select the Giving & impact menu item. Then, tap the Select local charity button. In the Search Charities search box, type New Hampshire Association for the Blind and select the search button. When the charity pops up, select it. If it doesn’t show up, try removing the filters. Once you have selected us as your preferred charity, you will have the option to scroll down and select Round up and donate whenever you make an online purchase. Thank you for your support!

Future In Sight offers Adjustment-to-Blindness Counseling, which can help you or a love one process the grief of losing your vision.

Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) Kate Lemire offers emotional support, aids in developing skills to boost self-esteem, and teaches individuals how to deal with the realities of vision loss.
