Today is Black Balloon Day.
Across the country, black balloons are released to honor the lives lost to overdose and to raise awareness about the impact of addiction. Each balloon represents a person — someone’s child, parent, sibling, partner, or friend. Their lives mattered. Their stories mattered.
At Breathe – A Center for Wellness, we sit with people every day who are fighting their way back from addiction, shame, and loss. Recovery is possible, but the path is not easy, and too many lives are lost before healing has a chance to begin.
Today we remember those who are no longer here.
We hold space for the families who carry their memory.
And we continue the work of creating a place where people can come without judgment and begin again.
If you are struggling, please know this:
You are not alone.
You are not beyond hope.
And your story is not over.
