Today we recognize World Autism Awareness Day 💙

At Adaptive Learning Center, we celebrate the unique strengths, perspectives, and voices of individuals with I/DD, not just today, but every day. Awareness is important, but true impact comes from acceptance, inclusion, and creating spaces where everyone can thrive.

We are proud to support our members in building independence, connection, and opportunities that reflect who they are and what they’re capable of.

Let’s keep listening, learning, and leading with inclusion, rooted in a person-centered approach that puts each individual first. 💙

Night Owls is one of our favorite monthly traditions! 🌙✨

Once a month, our group heads out for a night on the town, enjoying a meal together, exploring the community, and making meaningful memories along the way. From great conversations to lots of laughter, it’s always a night to look forward to.

A very special temp coworker joined our team this past week - Spicy Girl! 🦎

From greeting visitors to helping keep the front desk running smoothly, it was a fun and memorable moment that brought plenty of smiles to campus. Opportunities like this help our members build confidence, practice vocational skills, and share a bit of their personality with the community.

You never know who might be working the front desk at ALC!

Members spent an amazing day at Oracle Park! ⚾️

During this special visit, they had the chance to step inside the players’ batting cages, hold special memorabilia like a World Champion ring, and take photos with the World Series trophies. The day also included a walk out on the stadium field and, of course, enjoying some classic garlic fries!

Experiences like this allow our members to explore iconic places, create lasting memories, and stay connected with the community.

We’re grateful to be part of a community filled with inspiring women who support, uplift, and empower those around them every day. From creativity and leadership to friendship and advocacy, their contributions make a meaningful difference.

While this post doesn’t feature all of the incredible women of ALC, we are proud to celebrate and recognize each of you today and every day. 🌸

🍝 Dinner Club at ALC!

Our members gathered for this month’s Dinner Club, where our host of the week prepared a delicious Pasta Alfredo dinner for the group.

Dinner Club meets once a month and gives members the opportunity to practice hosting skills and social connection. The host prepares the main meal, while guests bring a side dish or drink, share the meal together, and help with clean-up afterward.

These evenings help members build independent living skills, practice hosting and guest etiquette, and strengthen friendships through shared experiences.

During our Black History Month Poetry Workshop, members shared reflections on strength, love, identity, and resilience. We are so proud of the two members who volunteered to share their original poems with their community. Their words were powerful reminders that every voice matters and every story deserves to be heard. ✨

Hiking Club hit the trails for an incredible 6+ mile adventure at Morgan Territory Regional Preserve 🌿

Our hikers explored early wildflowers in bloom, spotted local wildlife, and spent time learning about the beauty of nature all around them. Most importantly, they shared appreciation for one another and enjoyed a meaningful, energizing experience together.

Nothing beats fresh air, movement, and community. 💚🥾

Kicking off our week with celebration, culture, and community! 🧧🐎

Our members started the 2026 Chinese New Year, the Year of the Horse; by welcoming a wonderful volunteer who taught us how to make homemade egg rolls and spring rolls from scratch! From prepping ingredients and carefully rolling each wrapper to frying them to golden perfection, everyone had a hands-on role in the kitchen.

Experiences like this bring people together, build cooking skills, and create meaningful connections through culture and food. Cheers to a year of strength, energy, and new opportunities ahead!

Sweet Week was filled with creativity, connection, and so many sweet moments! 🍪💐

From baking delicious treats to sharing tea, speed dating, laughter, and handmade creations, our members truly made this week special. Watching everyone come together, try new skills, and celebrate friendship is what Community Connections is all about. 💛

Thank you to all of our amazing members for showing up, participating, and spreading joy all week long. We are so grateful for each of you!
