"The Hiking & Biking Club welcomed 2026 by participating in the New Hampshire State Parks sponsored 'First Day Hike' event at Silver Lake in Hollis, NH on a cold and windy January 1. Fifteen of us gathered under the clear blue sky to feast and hike. Diane Drescher volunteered to provide lunch for everyone, and she went all out. After checking in with the Park Rangers and picking up our 'First Day Hike Swag,' we scraped the snow and most of the ice off of a few picnic tables and benches and Diane produced table cloths and blankets for us to sit on as well as plates, utensils, and napkins. Then she laid out the spread, and what a spread it was - shrimp cocktail, crackers and cheese, cut-up vegetables and dip, Caesar salad with chicken, and absolutely delicious chicken soup. The soup was especially appreciated on such a cold day. After enjoying brownies for dessert, we packed everything up and set off to hike the 2-mile Dunklee Pond and Parker Pond Loop Trail. The cold weather and rough footing induced part of the group to turn back part-way, but 7 of us continued on and completed the trail. This trip was a marvelous way to start the New Year." - Hal Carter

What a success at our Plant Pop-Up Sale last week! Black Forest Nursery brought house plants, pottery, plant accessories, fresh cut flowers, and garden art to both campuses. Thanks to everyone who stopped by to shop - 10% of their proceeds will be donated to the HHH Cultural Arts Fund. It's wonderful to see our community supporting local businesses while also supporting the arts here at HHH!

We're proud of our residents Don Hayes and Hal Carter, who spoke at the Concord Hospital Payson Center Rock'N Race kickoff breakfast! Don, a cancer survivor, and Hal shared what the HOPE Resource Center truly does for patients - going beyond medical care to help them heal and get back to their lives. Nine HHH community members attended to show support.

During his speech, Don shared the powerful poem "What Cancer Cannot Do," reminding us that "cancer is so limited. It cannot cripple love, it cannot shatter hope, it cannot corrode faith..." HHH made a generous donation to support the Payson Center for Cancer Care, and we're honored to be part of this important cause again this year.

Yesterday we enjoyed "The Sunfox Farm Story" with Greg Po***ck! Greg, son of our own Sue Po***ck, shared how he got into the sunflower business and acquired 60 acres behind the post office. From seed to harvest to products, he detailed the whole process with beautiful photos of sunflowers. It was informative and inspiring - thanks for sharing your story with us, Greg!

It's a winter wonderland here at HHH! ❄️ The recent heavy snowfall has been transforming our campus into a beautiful snowy scene. While it's cold outside, many of us are staying cozy indoors. What are you doing to keep busy during these chilly winter days? Drop it in the comments below!

Our Health Services Center is participating in "Hearts Across America" and we need your help! ❤️ We've posted a large map of the United States within the HSC and our goal is to receive a Valentine from all 50 states by Valentine's Day. Each day, we'll place a heart on the map for every state we hear from. Send us a friendly greeting, a fun fact about your state, or a funny poem - our residents will love seeing which states check in!

We recently celebrated resident Bob Payne's 100th birthday! 🎂 The Heritage Heights Dining Room was filled with residents, staff, visitors, and numerous law enforcement officers who came together to honor this milestone.

Complete with cake and drinks, it was a fantastic celebration. Behind Bob's incredible life is his lovely wife, Barb Payne - they keep each other going and have plenty of stories to share. If you see Bob around campus, wish him a happy birthday and thank him for his military service. He's always got a good story to tell!

This year marks our 16th year supporting the Capital Region Food Program's Holiday Food Basket Project, a program with roots dating back to 1974. As CRFP Board Chair Elena Alois noted in November 2024, "as a result of the Holiday Vouchers, they have seen a 25% increase each year for the past two years."

We're proud to present a check for $3,812 to help families and children in need throughout the Capital Region. Thank you to everyone who contributed!

"On December 17, 2025, the hiking and biking club took a walk in Ransmeier Woods in Hopkinton. The trail starts adjacent to the Hopkinton Police Department. The temperature was unseasonably warm. The snow was fluffy and soft, not squishy or icy. The conditions underfoot were just about perfect. All 14 hikers were properly fitted with traction devices attached to our boots and we all stayed upright. The trail ran adjacent to a ravine and flowing water. We climbed up and down gentle hills, which raised our heart rates and provided an aerobic workout. I liked the hike so much that Tom and I went back the next day and explored another trail on the Hopkinton Village Greenway." - Ginny Clifford
