It is with mixed emotions and a heavy heart that I announce my departure from Carolina Urology Partners (CUP), effective the end-of-business on Friday January 2, 2026.
I started my career in private practice over 16-years ago at Northeast Urology Associates, after being hired to replace a senior partner who planned on retiring shortly after my arrival in 2009. Two years later, our practice merged with several others in North and South Carolina to form Carolina Urology Partners (CUP), which became one of the largest, privately held urology practices in the US at that time. Despite this significant expansion, the urologists in my division remained committed to providing the same exemplary urologic care to the patients of our surrounding communities they were used to receiving. I have been and will always be grateful to my partners hiring me. It has been an honor to be a part of this great practice for so many years.
I made the decision to transition from CUP to an academic practice at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill only after very serious thought and deep prayer. Leaving my home and the community I’ve lived in for nearly 20-years was difficult enough, but the most difficult part was knowing I would leave behind my colleagues and patients I’ve developed such strong bonds with. However, the opportunity to impact the development of our future urologists while continuing my work in men’s health at such a prestigious institution was simply too incredible to pass up. As tough as it is to say goodbye, I’m also very much looking forward to starting this new chapter.
