I get it…

You feel like you “can’t talk about” what’s going on.

You feel like you “need to be strong” for your family and everyone else.

You feel like “nobody else would understand”.

I get it…

The thing you need to understand is there is another way to go about this.

The way you’ve been doing things hasn’t worked so far. How about trying something new?

You’re worthy of support.
You’re worthy of love.
You’re worthy of healing.

It’s time…

A lesson that sport has taught me is to accept a loss when it happens, feel the pain of it, and try my best to not feel that again. Welcome to Grateful Friday!

Now when we talk about “not feeling that pain again”, we’re talking about doing what’s in our control to set ourselves up for success next time.

Watching the best athletes in the world compete in the Winter Olympics reminded me of how some people respond to struggle. 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐈 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐠𝐠𝐥𝐞.

I truly believe that people who accept and feel pain/struggle feel the joys of “winning” even stronger later on.

I get it. We live in a hustle and bustle world. Everything is quick!

So what happens when we slow down?

Well we have a chance to broaden our view and a chance to focus on something specific.

We have a chance to figure things out instead of brushing things under the rug to just move past it.

We have a chance to enjoy the moments of life instead of letting those moments escape us.

Try slowing down today. See what you notice (or notice what you see…) 😁✌🏾

In a world where it’s easy to find the unfortunate and negative, be intentional about finding 𝓰𝓻𝓪𝓽𝓲𝓽𝓾𝓭𝓮.

Being intentional about gratitude is NOT ignoring the negative or unfortunate parts of life.

It’s about widening your perspective to see more. To notice the little things that give us life and keep us going.

We’re gonna double up today. Happy Grateful Friday!

First, I’m grateful for my old coaches. Specifically the times when they pushed me past my limits because they knew/saw something I couldn’t see…that I had more in me!

This is different than pushing through injury (don’t do that!). This is about pushing through fatigue, pain, soreness, and that feeling like you’re about to fall out. Pushing through the thoughts of “I should just quit”, “Why am I doing this anyway,” or “Does this even matter”.

That didn’t just help back then. Even now, without sports, I still understand that I can keep going. When times are hard in my life and it seems impossible, I can keep going.

*Remember, this is not about ignoring injury or not giving yourself time to rest/recover.*

Second gratitude for the day is for everyone that wished me a happy birthday yesterday! Seriously, it made a regular Thursday feel extra special. ❤️😊

What are we trying to do here?

✅We’re trying to regulate our body (breathing isn’t the only thing you can do)
✅We need reminders to get us back on track
✅And we need to be mindful and present in the 𝐧𝐨𝐰

This isn’t magic though. This takes practice.

Find what works for you and practice it over and over again so when that special event comes you’ll be ready to use those tools!

We made it to another Grateful Friday!

Today, and this week in general, I’m grateful for big events that bring people together.

For example, we have the Winter Olympics 🏅 starting this week! We also have the Super Bowl 🏈 coming up too!

These sporting events obviously involve rivalries and intense competition (which is super fun). They also involve a bunch of different people coming together to enjoy a common event. It’s just a good time! 🎉😁

Ruminating on what’s out of your control is a good way to 𝓯𝓮𝓮𝓵 out of control.

No, it’s not easy.

Come back to the here and now. Come back to what you’re in control of. What you CAN do.

Grateful Friday is here!

I’m grateful for people who love justice and mercy. I’m grateful for people who use discernment and wisdom especially when other people are involved.

When I see people exemplifying these things it catches my attention. It gives me hope that injustice doesn’t rule the world although it’s sprinkled throughout different parts of the world.

Thank you for spreading hope even if that wasn’t what you intended.
