One of the most important lessons we continue to learn through our work at Dare To Live is that awareness alone is not enough.
In the local Cameroon 🇨🇲 communities we serve, worries about food, transport, school fees, rent, and treatment costs often take priority over any health message. When basic needs are unmet, survival comes first.
We are still learning, but one fundamental truth is clear. Awareness and sensitization must go hand in hand with support for basic needs. Stabilizing people first creates space for education, care, and healing to follow.
When we encourage women to come for screening, we must also think about transport and small support that makes attendance possible. When we go into communities, awareness should arrive with food items, not just information. These are not add-ons. They are what make access, dignity, and impact real.
Stabilize first. Educate second. That is how care truly reaches people 🎗️
