Three awards. One incredible council. A year of advocacy in action.

In 2025, The Arc Rockland’s Self-Advocacy Council was honored with regional, statewide, and individual advocacy awards:

We are deeply grateful to the public officials and community leaders who joined us in celebrating these achievements and continue to stand alongside the self-advocacy movement. Your support helps amplify voices and advance inclusion across our communities.

Grateful for community partners like Grace’s Thrift Shop!

We are incredibly thankful to Sally Seiler and the team at Grace’s Thrift Shop for their generous donation and continued support of our mission. Partnerships like this make a meaningful difference—helping us empower individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live, learn, work, and thrive right here in our community.

Thank you for believing in inclusion, opportunity, and the people we support at The Arc Rockland. Together, we’re building stronger, more inclusive communities

Sally Seiler presenting our donation to ARC of Rockland!

Founded in 1954, The Arc Rockland provides vital supports and services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) enabling them to remain in their communities; enjoy camaraderie with peers and dedicated skilled staff members; and gain independence, all while offering peace of mind to their family and loved ones. The Arc Rockland is an affiliate Chapter of The Arc New York. As a chapter of The Arc New York, The Arc Rockland is part of the largest and oldest national community-based organization advocating for and serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.

The Arc Rockland provides a comprehensive range of services to people,
from early childhood education, into adulthood, and through their senior years.

They support over 600 individuals with nearly 40 locations throughout Rockland County.

Their Mission:
To empower the people we support to make personal choices and realize dreams by providing them with the resources to participate fully in community life.

Their Vision:
To be the region’s leader and employer of choice in supporting people with disabilities.

Real questions. Real voices. Real advocacy.

Our Self-Advocacy Council led an honest conversation with Rep. Mike Lawler, asking how to raise awareness, protect vital programs, and create meaningful change. Every voice mattered—including a FaceTime call from our Council President, who couldn’t be there in person due to marathon training.

These conversations reflect the strength of our self-advocacy community and the reason The Arc Rockland was recently recognized with statewide advocacy awards—honoring the leadership, impact, and voices of self-advocates who continue to shape policy, programs, and progress.

Our Glee Club filled the room with joy, confidence, and holiday spirit during their recent performance. Seeing our performers shine—supported by their peers, staff, families, and community—reminds us why inclusive spaces matter.

Project Joy — a People to People program — brings holiday cheer to more than 1,200 children from low-income Rockland families who rely on the food pantry. For many, the holidays can be a time of financial stress, and this program helps ensure joy, hope, and memories for families who need it most.

We’re thrilled to share that our Community Services team delivered the donations last week, including $670 in gift cards, along with requested gifts and stocking stuffers for a local family.

Thank you for your generosity and for helping make the season brighter for our neighbors in need.

Wishing everyone a Happy Holiday Season! ❄️

The Arc Rockland

We will make available to individuals with developmental disabilities circumstances and opportunities that will lead to an ever-improving quality of life which will allow them to participate fully in society's mainstream.

Thus, we will continually strive to provide programs, services and supports through which individuals can gain maximum effectiveness in the world in which they live; and we will continually seek to ensure and protect those meaningful situations which provide them with dignity, pride in their abilities, a sense of accomplishment and the respect of society.

Strong roots—conceived more than 60 years ago by a small group of dedicated parents, today The Arc provides supports and services to more than 1200 people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities from infancy through the senior years. In areas of education, employment, housing and recreation, The Arc Rockland ensures that people are full members of the broader community. A staff of more than 650 professionals help to create a lifetime of abilities for the people in our care. A volunteer Board of Directors and a volunteer Foundation Board are integral aspects of The Arc.
