A group from our Franklin Day Hab program had the opportunity to visit the Pearl River Fire Department, where they learned valuable fire safety skills and got a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to serve the community.

Experiences like this not only build knowledge and confidence, but also highlight the importance of community connection.

During Volunteer Appreciation Week, we’re especially grateful for those who give their time and dedication to keeping our communities safe. 🧡

This Autism Awareness Month, we’re proud to celebrate artists whose voices are shared not through words—but through their work.

For Andrew Dodge, art is his primary form of expression and communication.

Diagnosed at a young age with profound autism, Andrew uses art to stay calm, grounded, and connected to the world around him. His artistic ability is both innate and continually developed through dedicated practice and programs like Museum of Modern Art Create Ability, where he regularly exhibits his work.

His artwork has been featured in exhibitions across the region, including at SUNY Martin-Mullen Gallery, where he earned 3rd Place in 2024. Working across a variety of mediums, Andrew’s pieces reflect the raw, expressive energy of Art Brut.

Andrew is joining his peers and fellow artists in the Artists of The Arc Rockland Exhibit, now on display at the Finkelstein Memorial Library. Located in the first floor meeting room, the exhibit is open during regular library hours and will be on display through May 31.

🧩 Autism Awareness Month reminds us that communication doesn’t look the same for everyone—and that’s something to celebrate.

On World Autism Awareness Day, we’re proud to highlight the incredible work happening at Prime Time for Kids, our early intervention preschool where children ages 3–5 are empowered to learn, grow, and thrive—at their own pace.

Through individualized instruction, specialized therapies, and nurturing environments, PTFK helps build the foundation for communication, confidence, and connection during the most critical stages of development.

Because early support doesn’t just change outcomes—it changes lives.

Justin, a PTFK graduate, is one of many individuals whose journey began here—his story continues to inspire our community and is the heart behind our annual Step Up for The Arc Rockland Walk.

💛 Want to show your support? PTFK’s 4th Annual Spirit Wear Fundraiser is now underway! This year’s color is maroon, and all orders are due by April 10th.

Wear it with pride. Support early intervention. Celebrate every ability.

The Arc Rockland

We will make available to individuals with developmental disabilities circumstances and opportunities that will lead to an ever-improving quality of life which will allow them to participate fully in society's mainstream.

Thus, we will continually strive to provide programs, services and supports through which individuals can gain maximum effectiveness in the world in which they live; and we will continually seek to ensure and protect those meaningful situations which provide them with dignity, pride in their abilities, a sense of accomplishment and the respect of society.

Strong roots—conceived more than 60 years ago by a small group of dedicated parents, today The Arc provides supports and services to more than 1200 people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities from infancy through the senior years. In areas of education, employment, housing and recreation, The Arc Rockland ensures that people are full members of the broader community. A staff of more than 650 professionals help to create a lifetime of abilities for the people in our care. A volunteer Board of Directors and a volunteer Foundation Board are integral aspects of The Arc.
