When you drive down Kitty Drive, you’re not just passing through a quiet residential street in the foothills — you’re travelling through a slice of mountain-community history.

Back in the early days of Conifer, families carved out homesteads, worked dairy farms and built lives among the pines and meadows. One of those early stories belongs to the Beeler family: Myrtle Fields Beeler and her husband Lloyd lived on the land where today another community service stands — and it was their daughter, Kitty Beeler, after whom the road is named.

Over time, what was once ranchland and cabins gradually transformed. The trees matured, homes filled the spaces, and the mountain-life rhythm adjusted to changing times. Yet the roots remain.

Next time you walk or drive Kitty Drive, pause and look at the road, the trees, the houses… and think: this street is layered with stories—from its homestead beginnings, to today’s neighborhood calm. It matters because—even in the quietest corners—heritage lives on.

👉 Want to dive deeper into local history? The Conifer Historical Society & Museum preserves many of the memories, photos and oral histories of the area. Consider a visit or ask someone in the neighborhood about “how it used to be.”
