The Marcy family and staff extend their deepest sympathy to his family.

William R. “Bill” Porter, 82, of East Springfield, PA, passed away December 27, 2025 at Hillcrest Hospital in Cleveland, OH. He was born February 7, 1943 in East Cleveland, the son of Raymond R. and H. Lorena (Pratt) Porter.

Bill graduated from Rowe high school in 1961 and attended classes at Case Institute and Kent State University. He began his long term career at the Pittsburgh and Conneaut Dock Company in 1971 and completed the Machinist Apprenticeship program in 1975. He continued at “the Dock” serving in a number of positions, including Machine Shop foreman, Vibrations Specialist and eventually became Manager of Dock Operations, retiring after 31 years of service, January 31, 2002.

During the 1970s, Bill was a founding member of the OH-Penn Paddlers Canoe Club and served as leader of Explorer Troop 34 which organized and ran the Conneaut River Canoe Races. He contributed to his community as a member of the Springfield
Township Planning Commission and led as President of the Springfield Cemetery Association, where he also served as the MC for Memorial Day ceremonies. A devoted traveler, Bill and his wife, Mabel, explored all 50 states and every Canadian province in
their motor home. His hobbies included gardening, fishing, bird watching, and setting up model trains throughout his living room. Bill taught himself woodworking and crafted innumerous items ranging from serving trays to picnic tables. Bill was also an avid
Cleveland Indians/Guardians fan.

Survivors include the love of his life Mabel (Hanneman) Porter, whom he married May 16, 1963; his children Scott W. (Crystal) Porter of Seeley Lake, MT, Kimberly (Bryan) O’Connor of Berwick, ME, and Russell A. (Christine) Porter of Cranesville, PA;
grandchildren Thaddeus Porter, Chelsea Porter, Meghan O’Connor, Aidan O’Connor, Gabriella (Isaac) Merritt, and Cassandra Porter; great-grandchildren Eden and Emmet Merritt; and sister Elizabeth “Betsy” Buchler of Prophetstown, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and maternal and paternal grandparents.

Funeral service will be 12:00 PM noon, Friday, January 2, 2026 at the Marcy Funeral Home, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, OH. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at noon. Burial will follow in Springfield Cemetery.

Contributions may be made in Bill’s memory to Springfield Cemetery Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

The Marcy Family and Staff extend our deepest sympathy to her family. Margo was a dear friend to us and will forever be missed.

Margo S. Kaihlanen 79, of Ashtabula, OH passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the Ashtabula County Nursing home on December 27, 2025. She was born March 3, 1946 in Bellevue, OH to Chester and Margaret (Kutting) Decker.
She graduated from Ashtabula High School in 1964 and once worked at Orlando’s Grocery Store in North Kingsville before focusing on bookkeeping at various car dealerships in the area and retired from Greg Sweet Ford in North Kingsville, OH where she had been for many years.
Margo was a member of the Our Lady of Peace Church and the Conneaut Boat Club.
She had a fun spirit and a gift to gab, enjoyed crocheting and boating on Lake Erie but her favorite thing in the world was being “Yaya” to her grandchildren. She loved attending their school functions and having them close to her.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Stephanie and Daniel Patriarco of North Kingsville, OH; a son Doug Kaihlanen of Haprersfield, OH; sister Marsha (John) Tandy of Fancy Gap, VA and grandchildren Grace and Luke Patriarco.
Preceding her in death are her parents, husband George whom she married December 29, 1966; a son Dale Kaihlanen and her faithful dog Molly.
Visitation will be 4:00-6:00 PM Friday January 2, 2026 at the Marcy Funeral Home 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, OH 44030.
Funeral Mass will be 11:00 AM Saturday January 3, 2026 at Our Lady of Peace, Mount Carmel Church with Father Francis Muriithi
officiating.

Edward J. Meaney, 60 Of Conneaut, OH passed away December 20, 2025 at Lake West Hospital in Willoughby OH. He was born February 2, 1965 to Richard and Shirely (Miller) Meaney in Conneaut, OH.
Ed had a love for hunting and playing chess, had a great sense of humor cracking jokes and making everyone around him laugh. Most of all he enjoyed being with his family and chasing his grandchildren all around.
He is survived by his daughter Samantha (Greg) Bones of Conneaut, OH; two sisters Cindy (Al) Cropeck and Kathy Smith; two brothers Rick and Donald Meaney; grandchildren Elija and Elliott Bones.
Preceding him in death are his parents, brothers Paul, Bob and Tom Meaney and two sisters Barbara Meaney and Louann Harlacher.
At the request of Ed, there will be no services observed.
Burial will take place in St. Joseph cemetery in Ashtabula at the convenience of the family.

The Marcy family and staff extend their deepest sympathy to her family.

Maria C. Miller, 97, of Conneaut, passed away Saturday morning, December 20, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was born December 8, 1928 in San Pedro, Sula, Honduras, the daughter of Bernandino and Trinidad (Hernandez) Marudiago.
Marie became a U.S. citizen on March 31, 1994. She worked as a trimmer at Conneaut Die Casting until she retired in 1984. As a member of Corpus Christi Parish, she found joy in gardening, particularly growing impressive beef tomatoes and delicious butternut squash, sewing, caring for her pets, and feeding stray cats nearby. Marie also loved music, dancing, cooking, traveling widely, and spending time with family in Honduras.
Above all, spending time with her children and grandchildren brought her the greatest happiness. Maria was the protector of all things with a heart of gold.
Survivors include her son Herbie (Maria) Diaz of Kenner, LA, daughters Lydia “Betty” Miller of Conneaut, Maria Kennedy of Sidney, OH, Verlys Loomis of Conneaut, Lois Jones of Conneaut, and Michelle (Brian) Lehtonen of Eastlake, OH; her adopted daughter Judy Berridge of Conneaut, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband David O. Miller; her daughters Particia Eichele and Verna Miller; son Rudy Miller; grandson Donnie Smith, brother Antonio Hernandez; and sisters Catalina Moncada, Lola Hernandez, and Angela Torres.
Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, with Father Philip Miller officiating.
Visitation is Tuesday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the funeral home, followed by the service.

Caroline Laura Stump, aged 93, of Conneaut, passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at her daughter's home, surrounded by her family. She was born February 3, 1932 in Salem, OH, the daughter of W. Phillip Sanford and Ethel (Hall) Wible. After Caroline's mother passed away when she was just nine, she and her sister Pat were adopted by the Long family.
Caroline worked as a waitress at the Sugar Bowl, Olympic Village, and State Street Diner. Known for her strong work ethic and friendly nature, she truly enjoyed connecting with her customers. She was actively involved in her family's activities and found joy in garage sales, collecting knickknacks, dancing, listening to music, doing word scrambles, and cleaning.
Survivors include her children Glen, Jr., Cheri, Loretta, John, Donny, and Lonnie, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters Patricia Braden and Sandra Best; and other half-siblings.
She was preceded in death by her parents; adoptive parents Mr. and Mrs. Long; longtime companion of over 20 years Robert Mickle, and siblings Jackie Day, Donna Fuller, Phil Sanford, Sally Andrews, and Harland Sanford.
Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 PM, Monday, December 22, 2025 at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, OH.

The Marcy family extends their deepest sympathy to her family.

Nancy M. Evans, 83, of Conneaut, passed away peacefully Thursday morning,
December 18, 2025, at UH Geauga Hospital.

She was born on December 30, 1941, in Erie, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Raymond
J. Niemla and Esther (Johnson) Niemla. Nancy was raised in West Springfield,
Pennsylvania, where she attended school and graduated from Northwestern High
School, Class of 1959, the first graduating class of Northwestern.

Following high school, Nancy attended Michael’s Beauty Academy in Erie, PA. After
graduating, she worked in Erie for a year before opening her own business, Nancy’s
Beauty Salon, in West Springfield, later in Albion. Her passion for the beauty industry
and education led her to continue advancing her skills throughout her life. Nancy
furthered her education at J.H. Thompson Beauty Academy, where she later became an
instructor, teaching for approximately 10 years. She went on to teach at Toni & Guy
Beauty Academy in Erie, Pennsylvania, traveling frequently to New York City and
working with students on the runway. Throughout her career, Nancy worked alongside
some of the top stylists in the country, including experiences in Chicago, California,
Dallas, and Puerto Rico, earning recognition including National Gold Star honors. She
also worked with Vo-Ed programs in Jefferson, Ohio, dedicating herself to educating
and inspiring the next generation of hairstylists.

As a young woman, Nancy was musically gifted and enjoyed entertaining others, often
imitating Elvis Presley, Bill Haley, and the Comets, and participating in various
community entertainment projects.

On April 18, 1964, Nancy married the love of her life, Gary W. Evans, and together they
shared 61 wonderful years of marriage.

Nancy loved meeting people, traveling, and was always passionate about continuing
education and keeping up with new standards in her profession. She was active in the
Easter Star as a W. M. and a representative to Puerto Rico. Above all, she cherished
time spent with her family.

Survivors include her daughter Kellie Evans of Akron; sons Daniel (Lisa) Evans of
Cortland, Ohio; Erik (Darci) Evans of Monroe Township; grandchildren Slater Evans,
Sydney (Billy) Lewark, Taylor Evans, Shiloh (Tyler Lukans) Wood, Seader (Joe Quinn)
Evans, Killian (Abby) Evans, Finley Evans; great-grandchildren Elliot Lewark, Valor and
Zeno Quinn, Lennon Evans, and Cash Lukans; brother Raymond J. (Valania) Niemla of
Albion; brother-in-law Donald Nemecek of Iowa; sister-in-law Shirley (Lonnie) Rogers of
Iowa; sister-in-law Wendy (Ken) Krall of Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by parents, her husband Gary on Oct. 31, 2025, two
brothers Donald and Ronald Niemla, and her sister-in-law Gail Nemecek.

Nancy will be remembered for her humor, creativity, dedication to her craft, and the love
she shared with her family, friends, and countless students whose lives she touched.

Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Monday, December 22, 2025 at the Marcy Funeral
Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St. Conneaut.

Visitation will be 2:00-4:00 PM, Sunday, December 21, 2025 at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions in Nancy’s memory can be made to the Shriners Hospital for
Children. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Donna M. Preston, 80, of Kingsville, passed away Thursday evening, December 11, 2025. She was born June 15, 1945 in Conneaut, the daughter of Edgar and Irene (Stenberg) Coates.
Donna graduated from Conneaut High School and worked for Lowes, True Temper, Transplastics, and most recently she was a driving instructor for Suburban Driving.
She loved to travel, going on nine cruises, spending 23 days journeying from Washington to Sydney, Australia, and visiting family in Biloxi, Mississippi in the spring. She also enjoyed going to casinos, was a fan of the Cleveland Indians/Guardians and Cavaliers and attended their games and liked cooking.
Survivors include her daughters Kimberly Lincoln of Dudley, NC, and Tammy (Rex) Lillie of Conneaut; her companion Robin Courtney; grandchildren Christopher Preston, Mathew Rosario, Branden Mullins, Stephanie Rosario, Justin Mullins, Rex Lillie, Jr., Alonna Lincoln, Aaron Lillie, Kristyn Lillie, and Justin Lillie; fourteen great-grandchildren; and her brother Ronald Coates of Kingsville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Thomas Coates; and former husband Lonnie Preston.
No services will be observed.

The Marcy family and staff extend their deepest sympathy to his family.

Neal B. Blood, 84, of Conneaut, OH passed away December 6, 2025 at Ashtabula Regional Medical Center in Ashtabula, OH. He was born February 4, 1941 to Wayne and Francis (Hazen) Blood in Conneaut, OH.
Upon graduating from Springfield High School in 1958, Neal enlisted in the United States Air Force. Following his honorable discharge from the service, he began his own logging business, known as Neal Blood Logging. After retirement, he enjoyed driving his Amish friends around, including working with and for his partner and friend, Henry Shetler.
Neal had a passion for the outdoors and loved hunting, trapping, and fishing, including fly fishing and being out on his boat in Lake Erie. Throughout his life, Neal spent an untold amount of time in the woods and in streams with his sons, brothers, father, uncles, and cousins, and will be warmly remembered for his storytelling abilities. He had many hobbies, from building model airplanes, flying planes with the Radio Flyer club, raising chinchillas and bees, and racing stock cars at Race Way 7 for over twenty years, to making maple syrup, cooking, baking pies, and making cider and jams. He also enjoyed gardening, trains, and traveling to the Midwest and the Rocky Mountains to see the beautiful mountains, rivers, and elk. Most of all, Neal enjoyed being with his family, having beach days, roasting hot dogs, going to amusement parks and attending sporting events. He loved his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren deeply, and having them all together for family gatherings would fill his heart with joy.
Neal was blessed with a large, loving family who survive him, including two daughters, Tersa (John) Bonifant of Portales, NM and Kristine (Alex) Wynn of Clovis, NM; four sons, Aaron Blood and Cody (Nichele) Blood, both of Conneaut, OH, Bryan Blood of Ft. Collins, CO, and Justin (Alyssa) Blood of Delaware, OH; a sister, Jennifer (Conrad) Donelson of West Springfield, PA; two brothers, Chris (Terry) Blood of East Springfield, PA and Jeff (Lorraine) Blood of Pittsburgh, PA; grandchildren Michael (Kristie), Ashley (Erick), Heather (Austin), Sarah, DeAnna, Myah, Josh, Alura, Nolan, Leland, Evelyn and Hudson, and great grandchildren Shay, Carson, Paisley, Jonah, Amelia, Johnathen, Tommy, Vivian, Josh Jr, Tyler, Zachary and numerous other nieces and nephews.
Preceding Neal in death were his parents and two brothers, Tom and Wayne “Buzz” Blood.
Visitation will be Thursday December 11, 2025 from 5:00-7:00PM at the Marcy Funeral Home 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, OH 44030. Funeral service will be 11:00AM, Friday December 12, 2025 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Springfield Cemetery with Military Honors.

Wanda M. Meinke 96, of Conneaut passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 6, 2025 at The Villa at The Lake. She was born October 9, 1929, in Conneaut to George and Ellen (Heinonen) Snyder.
Wanda was a member of the former Lakeview United Methodist Church. She had an energetic spirit and enjoyed playing Bingo.
She was a dedicated wife and mother, who gave tremendous love and care to her disabled daughter.
She is survived by nieces and nephews Jon Snyder. Steve Snyder, Renae Hansen, Terry Jones, Keith Meinke, Paula Kwiatkowski, Tom Lindgren, Jan Ellis, Dyan Kovacevic, Beth Rose, Tammie Lucas, Thomas Meinke and cousins.
Preceding her in death are her parents, husband Richard J. Meinke, daughter Linda Meinke; sister Juanita “Tupy” Lindgren and Georgene Mischka and brother Jon H. Snyder.
Graveside service will be 11:00am, Wednesday December 10, 2025 at Glenwood Cemetery, Rt.20, Conneaut.

Pastor Brian Ewig

The Marcy family and staff extend their deepest sympathy to his family.

Pastor Brian M. Ewig, 59, of Conneaut, passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 3, 2025. He was born on November 14, 1966 to Dennis and Geraldine (Gates) Ewig in Erie, Pennsylvania.
Brian was a Conneaut High School graduate. Following graduation he attended Bluffton College earning a bachelor’s degree in Communicative Studies, and recently obtained his degree in pastoral studies from Baptist Leadership Academy.
He was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church in Conneaut, served as Interim Pastor for two years, and has been Pastor at First Baptist Church of Andover for nearly five years. Before his ministry, he worked as a reporter for the News Herald, The Gazette, and Star Beacon.
Brian had a great love for playing chess and belonged to the Ashtabula County Chess Club where he had just won the Championship in November. Whether he played in person or online it was what he enjoyed doing. Over the years, he collected several hats, and those who knew him would often see him in all the different ones from his collection. In his free time he enjoyed traveling and going to see the opera at Tinsel Towne.
He is survived by his mother, Geraldine, and his sister, Bethany Ewig, both of Conneaut, OH; his stepbrother, David Conroy, of Snow Hill, NC, his aunts, Janet (Steven) Katulich of Leonardtown, MD, and Linda (Dennis) Rote of Martinez, GA; as well as numerous cousins.
Brian was preceded in death by his father Dennis, stepfather James Conroy, maternal and paternal grandparents, uncle Larry (Sharon) Ewig, and Aunt Lorie (Todd) Prenatt.
Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 9, 2025 with an hour of visitation prior to the service from 10:00AM until 11:00 at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the First Baptist Church of Andover. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
