The Centers for Disease Control estimate 2.8 million Americans suffer a traumatic brain injury (TBI) each year. These types of injuries can impact physical functioning as well as changes in personality and thinking. As a result, a person experiencing a TBI may also develop depression, anxiety, or PTSD. In addition to taking care of physical needs after a TBI, remember to care for the mental and emotional ones, which are equally as important.
March is Brain Injury Awareness Month, a time to recognize the strength and resilience of individuals living with brain injuries, and to raise awareness about the importance of prevention, treatment, and support.
At PAM Voyages Behavioral Health of Conroe, we understand that brain injuries can have lasting emotional, cognitive, and behavioral impacts. Recovery is not a linear journey, and every individual’s path is unique. That’s why compassionate, personalized care and strong support systems are so essential. This month, we stand with survivors, families, caregivers, and clinicians who work tirelessly to improve quality of life and promote healing. Together, we can reduce stigma, increase understanding, and advocate for those affected. Let’s continue to educate, support, and uplift one another.
