Recognizing early warning signs can save lives.

Some indicators that someone may be struggling include:
• Sudden withdrawal from friends and family
• Extreme mood changes
• Talking about hopelessness or feeling like a burden
• Increased substance use
• Drastic changes in behavior or sleep patterns

If you notice these signs in someone you care about, start a conversation. Listening without judgment can make a significant difference.

If there is immediate danger, call 911. For emotional support, 988 is available 24/7.

A single response isn’t always enough.

That’s why our Mental Health Follow-Up Program exists. After a crisis call, deputies may check back in with individuals and families to ensure they are connected with services and continuing their path toward stability.

This program helps reduce repeat crises, strengthen family support systems, and build trust between law enforcement and the community.

Recovery is a process, and we are committed to walking alongside our community members during that process.

Public safety includes mental wellness.

Many of the calls our deputies respond to involve anxiety, depression, substance use disorders, trauma, or behavioral health challenges. Addressing these issues proactively helps prevent future emergencies and keeps our entire community safer.

Our team works alongside hospitals, counselors, social service providers, and families to make sure individuals receive the support they need beyond the initial response.

Safety isn’t just about enforcement. It’s about connection, prevention, and support.

Mental health emergencies require more than lights and sirens.

Our Mental Health Crisis Intervention Team is made up of specially trained deputies who respond to calls involving individuals experiencing mental health crises. These deputies are trained to de-escalate situations, connect individuals with resources, and provide safe, compassionate solutions.

Since the program began, our team has responded to thousands of calls across the county, helping families during some of their most difficult moments.

Mental health calls are not just calls for service. They are calls for care.

If you or a loved one is experiencing a crisis, help is available. You are not alone.
