I thought running a homestead would be:
✨ peaceful mornings
✨ slow living
✨ fresh air and sunshine

Reality:

🐐 Goats screaming like they pay the bills (they don’t)
🥚 Chickens on strike when I actually need eggs
🐇 Rabbits tunneling out of their pen at the most inconvenient times
🧼 Making soap while an animal is actively destroying something behind me
🌱 Garden thriving one day… dramatic the next

Also me:
“I just want a simple life”

Meanwhile I’ve chosen:
• 37 daily chores
• full time animal management
• part-time detective (who broke the fence??)
• and somehow… a business

But honestly… I wouldn’t trade it.

Because even on the chaotic days,
there’s nothing better than knowing:
💛 where your food comes from
💛 what’s in your products
💛 and that you built this life yourself

Now excuse me while I go break up a goat argument.

Meet Oli, our Alpine😍 She has some very exciting news to share! This year, we bred her with a rare British Guersney goat (SWAK Cajun) from SWAK Farms🤎 These beautiful golden goats are endangered and there is only one breeder in Louisiana and that’s Sarah Smith Stanton. By breeding Oli with Cajun, we will have a 50/50 cross (experimental guernsey) that we can continue to breed up to the 6th generation to get a purebred guernsey with new genetics to strengthen the breed! Follow along this beautiful journey and help us preserve the guernsey breed🐐🤎
