We are expecting very heavy snow — the kind often called “heart attack snow.”
This type of snow is wet, dense, and extremely heavy. Shoveling it is not just tiring… it can be dangerous.
⚠️ Why it’s risky: • Heavy snow dramatically increases strain on your heart:
• Cold air constricts blood vessels and raises blood pressure
• Sudden intense exertion (especially if you’re not conditioned for it) increases heart attack risk
• Twisting + lifting = major injury risk for your spine
Please take this seriously — especially if you:
✔️ Have high blood pressure
✔️ Have a history or family history of heart disease
✔️ Are over 40 and not regularly exercising
How to Stay Safe:
🧤 Warm up first. Yes — actually warm up. 5–10 minutes of marching in place, arm circles, gentle squats.
❄️ Push the snow — don’t lift when possible.
🏋🏼 Lift small amounts. Do NOT overload the shovel.
🫁 Breathe. Don’t hold your breath while lifting (this spikes blood pressure).
⏱️ Take frequent breaks (every 10–15 minutes).
🚨 Stop immediately if you feel:
• Chest pressure
• Shortness of breath beyond normal exertion
• Dizziness
• Nausea
• Pain radiating to arm, jaw, or back
And honestly? If you can hire it out — hire it out, let a neighborhood kid do it!! Your heart and spine are worth more than a driveway....
Stay safe, check on neighbors, and move smart in this storm. 🤍
