Protect Your Child from Measles:
Important Updates for Conway Families
In response to recent measles cases and confirmed community spread in Faulkner County, the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) has updated its MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella) vaccination recommendations. It's crucial to ensure your family is protected. Measles is highly contagious and can lead to serious health complications, especially in young children.β
π Updated MMR Vaccination Recommendations:
Infants 6β11 months are now advised to receive an early "zero dose" of the MMR vaccine. This dose does not replace the standard two dose MMR series given at 12 months and 4 years of age.
Children 12 months and older are advised to complete the two dose MMR series. The first dose given at 12 months of age with the second given at least 28 days after the first.
These recommendations are especially important for residents of Faulkner County and surrounding areas, including Cleburne, Conway, Lonoke, Perry, Pulaski, Van Buren, and White counties. β
π Why Vaccinate?
Two doses of the MMR vaccine are approximately 97% effective at preventing measles.
Vaccination not only protects your child but also helps prevent the spread within our community.β
