omography (PET)

This exam provides better sensitivity for evaluating ischemic heart disease. It also allows the medical team to evaluate how your heart is functioning, or if your blood flow is being obstructed by narrowed arteries, muscle damage, or scar tissue. The PET scan also helps the doctor determine whether or not your heart muscle is working properly. In addition to providing diagnostic information, the cardiologists use heart PET scans to determine which treatment is right for your condition. Referring physicians may recommend a patient have a Oncology PET scan. Instead of travelling to Little Rock, we are conveniently located in Conway and our scans are read within 24 hours so patients may have fast and accurate results from their physicians to help determine their course of treatment.

MEET OUR TEAM!
This past year CAHC expanded services and opened the first clinic based Cardiac PET Scan in Arkansas. Heading up this department is veteran staff member Valerie Whitehead. She has worked for Dr. Thomas for since 2012, and is a Nuclear Medicine Technologist. Receiving her BS,CNMT from UAMS Valerie has been in this field for over 23 years. When she away from the clinic she enjoys camping and boating with her husband Chris, and two daughters Mackenzie and Samantha. We cannot forget about her furry baby Lola, a beagle terrier mix. The next time you are at an appointment, stop in and say hello to Valerie in her new space located in suite 320.
