This last evening before Christmas, John had some fun with the group and tested their knowledge through IQ questions! The guys had so much fun laughing with and at one another’s answers. Therapist John ended by sharing his faith with the young men. He discussed the importance of having faith in Christ in order to ground us in life. He shared how faith could also be used to overcome mental health such as anxiety, depression and anger. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from the RMMC Team!

Tonight we focused on group cohesiveness as we welcomed two new members. As we continued our group work on anxiety, the young men did a great job staying vulnerable and sharing their true feeling and experiences. We moved into the topic of peer pressure and anxiety surrounding it. My suspicions were confirmed tonight as the guys unanimously concluded that the peer pressure young men felt from culture and society today was great! We brainstormed ideas to work through specific scenarios where anxiety would be high! Great work guys!

Tonight was bitter sweet as we said goodbye to Carmela who has assisted us in a great way this year as a CCU Intern. We know that you are destined for greatness and will be praying for your success! Our guys continue discussing Anxiety and how they are responding to present fears in their lives. Each young man gave an example of something they were currently dealing with that was causing them to feel anxious. They discussed practical ways they could face and overcome their fears. Also, Happy Brithday Lex and Jayden!!!

Meet our NEW Counselor Assistant Intern & Board Secretary, Aubree Lewis!!!

Aubree is from Greenville, South Carolina. She is currently a freshman at Coastal Carolina University, pursuing a degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a focus on children. She has always been passionate about caring for others—whether through her love for animals, her heart for children, or her commitment to mental health advocacy. Her dream is to become an adolescent pediatric nurse and eventually a nurse practitioner so that she can provide compassionate care and guidance to the next generation.

As an experienced mentor and camp counselor, she aims to create safe and supportive environments where young people feel appreciated and understood. Her goal is to influence the future of mental health for children and adolescents by combining professional care with genuine encouragement. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our team, along with her heart. She also hopes to empower children and adolescents to believe in themselves, value their worth, and understand that they are never alone on their journey.

This Friday the boys learned what it looks like to take initiative in life. They also continued working on being vulnerable with themselves and each other. The boys had dinner at chikfila before ending the nights with a fun round of limbo and dodgeball in the park. The work these young men are doing can be hard and we are proud of them.
