This Friday the boys learned what it looks like to take initiative in life. They also continued working on being vulnerable with themselves and each other. The boys had dinner at chikfila before ending the nights with a fun round of limbo and dodgeball in the park. The work these young men are doing can be hard and we are proud of them.

Tonight we continued discussing management of Depression. The clients reviewed the process of maturation in their management of sadness as they grow from young men to men. They began discussing why young men choose to suppress when it comes to sadness and the stigmas associated with talking about things that contribute to feelings of sadness. They began practicing vulnerability in the session on tonight in sharing experiences that at times cause them to feel the emotion of sadnesss. Great job guys!

Tonight we continued in our discussion of understanding sadness and depression. The young men discussed the different ways sadness is inappropriately expressed. They gave examples of time when they or others around them have expressed it in an unhealthy way. They then discussed some of the consequences of this. Great night of engagement guys!!!

Tonight the young men began discussing sadness and depression. They discussed what all they knew about the emotion and some of there experiences with it. They then began to share both overt and covert signs of depression in young men. Finally they guys who have had moments where they struggle with depression shared these with the group. Tonight we closed out our teaching and discussion series on understanding and healing anger. The clients engaged in a question and answer review of what anger is, how to recognize it, the consequences of unresolved anger and how to heal it. They all participated tonight and demonstrated a deeper understanding of how to manage this emotion with their answers! Great job guys!
