Most of you have heard me talk about my my teacher Rocío Alarcón . I've been studying with her for many years now. In 2011 I was lucky enough to spend time with her in Ecuador studying the healing plants of the Amazon region and the varied healing practices from different areas of Ecuador. It was life changing. Rocio is a traditional healer, a curandera, and she also holds a Phd in Ethnobotany a combination which makes her a fabulous teacher, she is also kind, patient.

In February of 2026 she is once again leading guided healing journeys to Ecuador. This experience is the medicine we all need right now!

Activities/teachings include

🌺Observation and identification of different species of hummingbirds.

🌺Observation and identification of the flower species that offer food to the various hummingbirds.

🌺Coevolution of plants and hummingbirds. Observation and analysis.

🌺Hummingbirds and healing properties.

🌺Recognition and formulas of hummingbirds for the various spiritual, emotional, and physical crises: stress, anxiety, depression, etc. Effects and benefits on the three physical bodies.

🌺Artwork where each participant will create their own spiritual landscape based on observations of the natural landscape, and identification of hummingbirds. The design and inspiration will be personal.

Where plants become ink and memory becomes spell — join me for The Art of the Grimoire

A year of paper, plants, and personal alchemy.
Over twelve moons, we’ll gather to make artist books that breathe,  books that hold memory, ritual, and beauty. The Art of the Grimoire is an invitation to slow down, make with your hands, and craft a book that feels alive.
Together, we’ll explore the ancient and the experimental: eco-printing, papermaking, bookbinding, pigment-making, and the quiet rituals that turn process into prayer. Each page will be touched by plants and story, becoming a reflection of your creative lineage and your relationship to the natural world.

This is not just a class , it’s a practice of remembering. A way to weave art, earth, and spirit into something tangible, something enduring.

The Art of the Grimoire Returns

I am so excited to finally be announcing dates for “The Art of Grimoire 2025-26” A year long adventure in bookmaking, and the Botanical Arts.

No books have been more feared, revered, or treasured than grimoires. Emerging in the 17th century, the witch’s grimoire was a living collection of herbal recipes, magical spells, and familial ceremonies—a book of power and memory.
In this intimate year-long workshop—part bookmaking, part botanical art, part ceremony—you will create a singular artist book that celebrates you. This grimoire will be your life-book: a physical record of your place in the universe, filled with recipes, rituals, memories, and family traditions

Wild Carrot has summoned us to gather in community, she will hold us tight over the weekend as we learn, grow, laugh, support and shed a few tears.

I will be joining some of my favorite people including Rocío Alarcón, Dr. Jody Noé, Mary Blue, Tammi Sweet, and more plant loving presenters at BotanicWise Womens Herbal Conference on September 26-28 in scenic Kempton, PA

The 15th Annual BotanicWise Women’s Gathering is a unique event dedicated to preserving plant traditions through story, song, ceremony, hands-on activities, and educational classes. This event brings young and old together, honoring the wisdom of the plants and celebrating the beauty of community.

I want to see all my friends there! I have come of age at these conference attended my first one back in 1990, spent several years on various workstudy teams and eventually became a presenter- they are always the medicine you need!
