🇺🇸 Honoring Our Veterans with Compassion and Respect 🇺🇸

We take a moment to recognize the brave men and women who served our country and who are now part of our hospice community. At Amedisys Hospice, we are deeply honored to care for our veterans, understanding that they have not only served their country but also carry unique stories, experiences, and sacrifices that deserve our utmost respect.

Our team is dedicated to ensuring that our veteran patients feel valued, heard, and supported during their journey. As a small token of our gratitude, we are committed to providing specialized care that addresses their needs, honors their service, and brings comfort and peace.

Thank you to all veterans, and especially to those in our care, for your courage, resilience, and dedication. We are privileged to walk alongside you and your families during this time. 💙

Thank you Anderson oaks for allowing us to come to your facility to show our gratitude.

Happy Veterans Day from Amedisys Hospice. We are thankful to you all for your service!

This week is CNA week, our CNA’s are incredible here at Amedisys. Huge shout out to each of them for all their hard work.

Some people may think that being a CNA is just giving baths or changing briefs, but it’s so much more. They spend an extensive amount at time with each patient and see them at their most vulnerable moments. Patients and families form a close bond with them. The CNA is a break for that family member who has been up all night taking care of their loved one. They are a sounding board for patients to air their frustrations or even fear. They hold hands of patients who are dying. They comfort families who are mourning. They may be the only conversation that a patient gets during the day because they live alone or family has to work. They are the backbone of Amedisys Hospice.

Instead of Certified Nursing Aides they are Caring Nurturing Angels to us and each patient and family they come into contact with. We appreciate each of you and what you do to care for everyone. ❤️

Carter Owens is one of our Clinical Managers. She has been a nurse for 12 years. She started out in the hospital working in med surg and then came to hospice after having multiple patients leave the hospital to go home with hospice. She says, “I thought what a blessing it would be to care for them at home.”

She has been working with Amedisys for 10 years and the first 9 years she worked in the field as a case manager. This past year she became a Clinical Manager. She knew hospice was her calling after her first week of becoming a hospice nurse. She continues to say, “it’s one of the most important part of one’s life, and I feel blessed to be a part of that journey with patients and families. I too have been on the other side of hospice with my dad and I couldn’t be prouder to be a part of such a special ministry.”

She is married to her best friend Jeremy of 10 years. They have one little boy Ryker who is 7! He is full of energy and keeps them on their toes! They also have a 12 year old rescue dog Hendrix!

In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family. She loves the beach and the mountains. She never misses an opportunity for a good road trip!

If you have ever come in contact with Carter her heart is clear. She has definitely found her calling with this career. She cares wholeheartedly for each and every person she comes into contact.❤️

Thank you Carter Owens Walker for all you do for our patient, families, and staff.❤️

Teresa Massey is one of our case managers. She always wanted to be a nurse growing up, but she chose to do payroll and HR for a trucking company for 15 years.

She received her ADN from Tri County Technical College on December 2015. Then went back to receive her BSN from USC in Spartanburg in April 2018.

In May 2018 a friend ask that she come talk with her about Hospice. She had no idea really what hospice truly meant. In school is was not a big part of her classes. After talking with her she started a career in hospice nursing.

She is married and has a 19 yr old son and his 20 yr old best friend living with them while going to college near by. They enjoy spending time walking the beach.

Thank you Teresa for all you do for our patients and families.❤️

Jennifer Poston is our Director of Operations of not only the Conway care center but the Florence care center as well. She has been a nurse for 21 years, and has been in healthcare for 25 (she started her career as a surgical technician). She spent the first 10 years of her career in the operating room which the adrenaline ju**ie in her misses some days. However, her calling is hospice where she has spent the last 15 years.

She is married to her best friend, Greg. They have been married for 25 years, and together they have been blessed with their 3 children- Karyn, Matthew, and Katie. She says, “As my kids aged I was afraid I would miss having little kids, but I have found my adult children are actually a lot of fun and I enjoy them more and more everyday!”

Her hospice why is simple she believes it is a ministry and she was called to do this work. Also, she has walked it first hand and saw the beauty of having a loved one at home where she wanted to be, surrounded by all her family, and life stories being shared together as she journeyed to her heavenly home. If she can help one person feel and find that peace as they face the end of life she feels it is enough.

She loves to spend time with her family, loves the ocean, she could live off Mexican food, and she loves a good road trip!

Thank you Jennifer for all you do for our patients, families, and our team. ❤️❤️❤️

Meredith Kivi is one our weekend on call nurses. She comes from a long line of nurses. Her great-grandmother, grandmother, and mother were nurses. She’s been a hospice nurse for 5 years.

She is very close to her daughter and they both enjoy traveling and having new experiences. When they have time together they make sure to treasure the time. Their dream is to go to Asia and explore the foods and the culture. They enjoy watching Asian shows together and reading.

She hates the hot weather, and gets sunburned after ten minutes outside. Funny enough she lives in one of the hottest areas around. She’s also becoming the proverbial “old cat lady”, she has 3 cats now and has more pictures of them on her phone then anything else. 🐈‍⬛🐈🐈‍⬛

Thank you Meredith for all you do for our patients and families.❤️

Kellie Ross is one of our on call weekend nurses. She received her BA in international studies in 1990 and returned to school to obtain her ADN in nursing in 1993. She worked in the critical care/step-down units until 2000 obtaining her CCRN certification in the process.

In 2000, she took a break from her nursing role to raise her children. In 2005, she co-founded a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving the sick and underprivileged members of her community. The organization offered free clothing, new shoes for children, a food pantry, thrift store and developmental classes. She also led disaster relief missions to New Jersey after Hurricane Sandy, the Ivory Coast, and Haiti following the 2010 earthquake.

She returned to nursing in March 2021 and completed her BSN in April of 2022. She is currently enrolled in a master’s program at Western Governor’s University to become a psychiatric nurse practitioner.

She absolutely love hospice nursing and enjoy working with families during this difficult time. She has a passion for learning and embrace the challenges that come with this role

Thank you Kellie for all you do for our patients and families.❤️

Time to introduce myself, I’m Stephanie I’m one of the Clinical Hospice Liasions. I’ve been a nurse for 13 years. 8 years in hospice.

I’m married and have a sassy 2 year old. My fun fact is she is our miracle from God for sure. She was IVF and the only survivor out of 16 embryos. She was frozen, thawed, and frozen again due to complications. Let me tell you when she was implanted she let me know she was there to stay. Many members of this team prayed with me during this journey as well as countless others. She was an 11 year journey and she just beams with the love of Christ.

My hospice why: I have always been the nurse who would take that terminal patient and have that difficult talk with the family. Many nurses didn’t want to have that talk. I found myself in the hospice field and don’t regret it. I am out of the typical bedside nursing role, but this job allows be to still do my calling. I have had hospice for several members of my families in the past year alone. This team is the one we chose and they have been excellent support and kept reminding me to step back and be family vs nurse. I love what I do❤️.

Thank you Krissy for all you do for our patients and families.❤️
