Ability Beyond Barriers will be open tomorrow, February 3rd with normal hours for staff. However, our Day Services in Conway and Loris will begin pickup of our program consumers two hours later than usual.

Ability Beyond Barriers enjoys our partnership with the City of Myrtle Beach - Parks, Recreation & Sports Tourism and the use of the Mary C. Canty Recreation Center. Recently, our day program consumers had a great time playing the Guard the Treasure game.

Please note the attached announcement of a Food Drive our organization will be collecting non-perishable donations for throughout February. The donations will go towards helping a local food bank.

Ability Beyond Barriers introduces a new Independent Living Skills program, designed to empower our consumers with the confidence, knowledge and practical tools needed to live independently. Through hands-on learning and personalized guidance, participants will build skills such as daily living routines, money management, meal prep and planning, community navigation, personal safety, household responsibilities, and more. At our Conway Day Center, check out Sarah (first two photos) and Erin (last two photos) display their art skills. Sarah is creating beautiful images through diamond art, which is placing tiny shiny resin pieces onto a sticky surface to create a picture. Meanwhile, Erin is using a bead loom to hold tight warp threads and weaves tiny seed beads across them to follow a pattern.

A nonprofit is expanding its reach by building new community training homes in Horry County.
