Cervical cancer is the fourth most common cancer in women worldwide. The best ways to prevent cervical cancer are vaccination and routine screening. OB/GYNs perform Pap smears to detect precancerous changes and abnormal cells in the cervix, while the Gardasil vaccine helps protect individuals ages 9 to 45 against HPV-related diseases, including cervical cancer.
