Another year has almost past and time to plan for 2026. 2025 has been a year of transition for me. We all evolve, grow and change with time. As I can begin to see retirement in the future, 2-3 years, I am making some adjustments to protect my body so I do not "use it up" for things I greatly enjoy like painting, cooking, kayaking, spending time with friends and family, and hopefully cradling a grandchild someday. To this end, here are my plans moving forward;

Office Hours:
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
No more nights and weekends

Thursday - On-site at UAMS Winthrop Rockefeller Cancer Treatment Center, no appointments at Oasis

Alternating Fridays - Day off, and teaching a continuing education classes either at Oasis or on location around the state.

My focus, in addition to providing care to my long term/standing appointment clients, will be using my education and special training in oncology, lymphatic and therapeutic/medical care.

This schedule will hopefully create a balance using all my skills, and let me work as long as I desire. I appreciate your understanding and support.

Peace, love and light,
Leigh Ann

So, I am out of office this week trying to rest and heal an overuse injury of my serratus anterior. As noted on this guy peeping in my window, it is a major part of the support structure of the shoulder. Making the most of time away I also had a bit of oral surgery today. Good times! I will be back next week.

Thank you for understanding!
Leigh Ann

A new Fall Update Newsletter went out this morning. Be looking for it in your inbox as it will address schedule changes starting next week. I will be out of office every Thursday morning providing inpatient care to cancer patients at UAMS in Little Rock. This is my dream and I am filled with gratitude and joy. I will also be creating blocks of time specifically for providing therapeutic touch for those living with and recovering from cancer, lymphedema care and breast cancer rehab therapy in my studio. I have invested a great deal of time, travel and money in building my specialty and now is the time to "lean" into this area on a more regular basis.

I'm doing some creative juggling this weekend to take care of everyone. I know many of you are doing the same as school starts back and hustle returns. Be patient and kind to our students who may be driving to school for the first time, and college students new to our community. Tomorrow is move-in day at UCA. Stay away from Dave Ward and get your shopping done today.

Peace, love and light,
Leigh Ann

I love this rare photo of Ansel Adams. His iconic, black and white photography has brilliantly captured the beauty of our country. In this candid photo taken by his friend, he is preparing a meal on a campstove while waiting to capture the perfect lighting for his art.

There is a lesson for all of us in this image; while "waiting" for your goals to be achieved, don't let your hyper-focus prevent you from living life. Take time to look up. Take time to care for yourself. Take a companion to share the way.

Peace, love and light on this July 3rd morning,
Leigh Ann

Crying is an important release, not a sign of weakness. This goes for ALL humans. Having an emotional release on the massage table is a common occurrence when clients feel safe to let go. Do not fight it. The healing that can begin from a built-up cry may be the turning point you have been seeking.

If I could build my "perfect" massage and bodywork practice it would include the following, all working together to the best results;
Licensed Massage Therapists w/diverse skills
Physical therapists
Therapists & Counselors
Dietician with a Kitchen Classroom
A movement studio for dance, yoga, etc
A studio for creating art
A saltwater therapy pool
Outdoor space with a garden

Am I asking too much?😜 It is my dream after all. It would be my dream "Oasis". Until I win the lottery, or an investor shares my dream, I will keep nurturing my little Oasis and doing the best I can.

Show yourself grace, be forgiving of others and love seek the light (with good sunscreen 😜),
And have a lovely day,
Leigh Ann

Let's talk about passing gas on the massage table. 🤔 Why? Because it happens and here's the interesting part, its music to our ears! When a client passes gas that means we are doing our job. Confused? You are probably familiar with our nervous system; sympathetic and parasympathetic. They are also known as "Fight and Flight" and "Rest and Digest". When the body assumes you are being chased by a proverbial bear, times of great stress, it shuts down your GI tract knowing you don't have time to stop and deal with it. But, when you are relaxed, it is all systems go, allowing things to flow, including gas. So, don't be embarrassed. We're good! In fact, a gentle, relaxation massage that soothes nerves is excellent for addressing constipation. Drink lots of water before your session, and I suggest going straight home afterwards. 😜

The more you know! Massage is good for you!

Peace, love and light,
Leigh Ann

How often in our lives do we ignore the signs that are right in front of us, especially regarding our health. The attitude of "I am well until I receive a diagnosis otherwise", then putting off a doctor's appointment, may change a treatable diagnosis to one of palative care only. We can not live in fear, but must find a balance of being alert abd when signs are clear, be proactive rather than reactive.
