It’s Friday night… and not everyone is okay.

While some people are out celebrating, others are:

• Fighting urges
• Numbing pain
• Overthinking relationships
• Feeling alone in a room full of people

Let me ask you something…

What are you trying to quiet tonight?

At Intentional Connections Counseling, we talk about the hard things — without judgment. Addiction. Trauma. Anxiety. Relationships. The things people pretend aren’t there.

Healing doesn’t start when you “hit rock bottom.” It starts when you decide you’re tired of carrying it alone.

If tonight feels heavy, you don’t have to stay there.

DOT employers and DERs, a quick but important reminder.

After a DOT drug or alcohol violation, federal regulation requires more than removing the employee from safety sensitive duties.

Under 49 CFR Part 40 §40.287, employers must provide the employee with a list of Substance Abuse Professionals who are qualified under §40.281.

This step is mandatory. It is not optional and it does not depend on whether the employee already knows a SAP or plans to find one on their own.

Providing a qualified SAP list promptly helps:

**Keep the Return to Duty process moving
**Reduce confusion and delays
**Support compliance during audits or reviews

I recently published an employer guide that explains this requirement and other SAP related responsibilities under Part 40.

❄️ Anticipated Inclement Weather Alert ❄️

Arkansas is expected to experience inclement winter weather beginning Friday and continuing through Saturday and Sunday. Forecasts are calling for freezing rain, sleet, and snow across the state.

Please take time between now and Thursday to prepare. Stock up on food and essential items, fuel your vehicles, and make safety plans as needed.

If you take any medication as part of your recovery journey or overall wellness, be sure to plan ahead for refills and contact your provider if needed.

Long periods indoors can sometimes lead to boredom or added stress—remember to use your coping skills, stay connected, and keep your support system on speed dial.

Most importantly, stay safe… and if you can, enjoy the snow responsibly! ☃️❄️

We’re thinking of you and wishing everyone a safe and warm weekend. 💙

Support During the Holidays!

As the holidays approach and we reflect on the past year, we recognize that this season can be a high-risk time for relapse. Stress, grief, loneliness, and financial pressure can make recovery feel harder but your progress and sobriety still matter, and they are worth protecting.

If you find yourself struggling or feeling vulnerable, please remember that reaching out is a strength, not a failure. Intentional Connections is here to support you through these moments and help you stay connected to your recovery.

If you need help, have concerns about relapse, or want to talk through what you’re experiencing, call or text 501-764-8809 for intake or questions.

You are not alone, and support is available.

✨ The holidays are coming up… and for many of us, that can be both joyful and stressful. ✨
If you’re in recovery, this time of year can bring up old emotions, triggers, or pressure that makes staying on track feel harder. Just a reminder: you’re not alone, and it’s okay to take care of yourself first.

Here are a few gentle tips to help prevent relapse and protect your peace this season:

🚨1.Thank Know Your Triggers
Family dynamics, certain people, places, or even memories can feel overwhelming. Be aware of what affects you so you can prepare or set boundaries.

🕯️ 2. Stick to Your Recovery Tools
Meetings, therapy, journaling, prayer, meditation—whatever keeps you grounded, keep doing it. Your recovery doesn’t take a holiday break.

💬 3. Have an “Escape Plan”
If a gathering gets uncomfortable, give yourself permission to leave early or take a breather. Step outside, call a trusted friend, or take a quick walk.

🤝 4. Stay Connected
Reach out to supportive friends, sponsors, or groups. Even a quick check-in message can make a big difference.

💧 5. Take Care of Your Body
Eat, sleep, hydrate, rest. Stress hits harder when you’re running on empty.

❤️ 6. Be Kind to Yourself
You don’t need to be perfect. You just need to keep showing up for yourself.

If you’re struggling, please remember: asking for help is a strength, not a weakness. Your well-being matters, and you deserve a peaceful holiday season.

You’ve got this. 🌟
