Manna's Hana Riding Center, Inc.

Manna's Hana Riding Center, Inc. Provides equine-assisted activities for individuals with special needs through the power of a horse Riding sessions are 8 weeks long.

Manna’s HANA Riding Center has been providing equine assisted activities and learning, including therapeutic riding, to the Upper Cumberland Area since 2011. We began with only 2 riders, one horse and three dedicated individuals. Our focus is on individuals with various special needs, be it emotional, physical or cognitive. Our goal is to have them become well-adjusted both physically and emotionally while developing friendships. Programs:
Therapeutic/adaptive riding lessons are taught at Manna’s HANA Riding Center in Cookeville, Tennessee by riding instructors with special training. Riders are assisted by a leader and a person walking on each side. As riders become more independent and confident, fewer assistants are necessary. Lessons are semi-private, private or group. Sessions begin Late March - June and September through October. CAMP HANA: "Caring about Military People" through the power of a horse is broken down into two eight-week programs helping our military families see there is HOPE. They bond in a non-judgmental atmosphere with fellow veterans, the equines and volunteers. We offer our equine-assisted program free of charge to our heroes. The second eight-week program invites spouses or partners to join the fun. Weather permitted, the group will have an opportunity to go on a trail ride at another facility. Lambs "2" Lions is our at risk Youth is a closed session for ages 13-17. Groups are paired with qualified leaders and certifed four-legged therapists that read the youth and give instant feedback. The results have been documented to show the program is sucessful. People interested in volunteering and/or donating to the programs, please check out our webpage at www.mannahana.org.

When a young person is overwhelmed, “calm down” feels like the obvious thing to say — but it’s something a dysregulated brain simply can’t do on command.

In that moment, their body is in threat mode: heart racing, breath shallow, thinking brain offline. Until their nervous system feels safe again, calm isn’t a choice — it’s a state they have to be guided back into.

This visual explains the brain–body loop behind big feelings, and why co-regulation and connection work so much better than pressure or reasoning.

If you’re navigating this at home or in the classroom, our The Child Brain Explained Toolkit gives you step-by-step support to help a child return to calm.

Who your donation will benefit...this Tueday the funds received will provide scholarships for our at-risk young in the Putnam County Area. This will allow them to participate in the Lambs "2"Lions Empowering Program for our local youth. What does that mean? Having one day a week for 6-8 weeks of hands-on learning and caring for a horse. A time to reflect what the horse shared while sharing a snack with other youth.

UPDATE: I still haven’t been able to locate my humans. The kind officers of the Monterey Police Department have taken good care of me today. I saw a lot of people shared my post, but to no avail. I have to go to the Cookeville Putnam County Animal Shelter located at 2650 Gainesboro Grade. I am still hopeful I can find my humans. You can call about me at the Shelter at (931) 526-3647. Thank you to everyone who helped me🐾

Good afternoon Monterey. I have wandered away from my home and I want to go back very badly. I’m sure my humans miss me and want me to come home too. I was found in the area of the Burks Middle School around the Farley Ave. area. If you know my humans or where I live, I would be very grateful if you would call or come by the Police Department. The Monterey Police Officers enjoy my company, but I really want to go home. Please call the PD @ 839-2323 or come by 711 E. Commercial Ave.

A horse remembers the moments that shaped their safety—both the soft and the sharp.
When you meet a horse, you’re meeting all the people and pressures that came before you. But you’re also being offered a chance to add a new memory—one of peace, patience, and presence.
How you listen shapes what heals.
And what heals in one horse ripples into the next, until gentleness becomes the language we all remember.
