He leads with heart and hustle. He reads with gratitude and pride.

We surprised Minnesota Vikings captain Josh Metellus with a few handwritten letters collected from fans through our Ready. Set. Send. campaign.

Each message was filled with encouragement and appreciation, celebrating everything from his leadership to his dance moves. Wishing Josh and the team good luck Sunday against the Bears!

We were honored to host members of the Minnesota Business Partnership and several state legislators for a tour of our Eagan – Viking Lakes campus.

The visit highlighted our integrated care model—combining clinic, therapy, surgery, sports performance, and research under one roof—to deliver better outcomes, reduce costs, and enhance the patient experience.

We also engaged in meaningful discussions on key healthcare priorities impacting access and affordability, underscoring the critical role of collaboration between providers and policymakers.

For Vivian, running a half-marathon with her daughter made every step of recovery worth it.

“I’m a single, empty-nester mom, work in real estate, and stay active. I run, lift weights, golf, and keep up with my daughter’s college hockey schedule. I don’t have time to slow down.

I joined a weekend kickball tournament for something fun and social. While chasing a ball, I fell and separated my shoulder. I tried to let it heal on its own, and Dr. David Hartigan actually supported that decision. He told me that if he were in my shoes, he would wait and see. That meant a lot because it showed he cared about what was best for me, not just rushing into surgery. When it became clear that surgery was the right option, he walked me through the entire plan.

Dr. Hartigan explained what the procedure would involve and answered every question I had. I never felt rushed. He always made me feel like my concerns mattered. After the initial surgery, I had a freak accident and broke my clavicle again. It was a frustrating setback, and I needed another procedure.

Even through that second surgery, I never felt alone. Dr. Hartigan and the entire TCO team continued to be supportive and positive, which made a big difference during a tough time. Five weeks before my half-marathon, I got the green light to start running again. The next day, I ran 10 miles. That race became a symbol of everything I had overcome. Crossing the finish line with my daughter by my side was emotional and empowering. It felt like I was finally leaving the pain and recovery behind me.

Today, I’m back in the gym and lifting weights. I feel strong and like myself again. Dr. Hartigan is more than a talented surgeon. He’s an incredible human being. I would recommend him to anyone.”

It started as a dream hunt in Idaho’s remote backcountry. Wes was the guide, but when sudden back pain hit, TCO’s Dr. Loren Vorlicky became the one leading the way.

“I’ve guided Dr. Vorlicky for nearly 15 years. We’ve shared a lot of great hunts together, but this one took an unexpected turn. While unloading gear after a long ride into the mountains, I felt a sharp pain shoot through my lower back, pain that only got worse as the night went on. I couldn’t sleep, and before long, I couldn’t move either. Miles from anywhere, Dr. Vorlicky went from hunter to physician in an instant.

With a satellite connection, he arranged for medication to be flown in by plane. I’ve never been a big fan of Starlink in the wilderness, but this time, it saved me. When things still weren’t improving, Dr. Vorlicky made a call I’ll never forget. He packed up camp, loaded me into his truck, and drove 24 hours straight back to Minnesota to get me care.

Along the way, he made a few phone calls. By the next day, I was in for an MRI and a same-day injection with Dr. Aaron Bloom at TCO. From start to finish, every person I met made me feel like I was in the right place. The care was seamless, fast, and professional.

I’d never been to Minnesota before, but I have friends from there and always heard about ‘Minnesota Nice.’ I can now confirm it’s a real thing. Everyone I met was kind, helpful, and genuine. Dr. Vorlicky still managed to get his elk while I was laid up, but we’re both looking forward to a do-over where I can stay on my feet.”

After a total knee replacement with Dr. Brian Bjerke and our EXCEL program, Eric is embracing a life full of adventure.

“I’ve had knee problems for years. It started with a broken kneecap from playing soccer, followed by bipartite patella surgery, and a couple of meniscus repairs. I’ve always been active. Skiing, biking, hiking, and just staying on the move. Eventually, the pain became too much.

I saw several TCO physicians in the past, and when things got worse, I decided to get a second opinion there. A few of my friends had great experiences with Dr. Bjerke, so I made an appointment. He recommended TCO’s EXCEL program and thought I would be a good fit. He was right.

The experience was outstanding. I had surgery at TCO Eagan - Viking Lakes and recovered in a care suite at the Omni Viking Lakes Hotel across the street. It felt more like a high-end hotel stay than a hospital visit. I received physical therapy right in my room, and everything from pre-op to recovery was smooth and well-organized.

I was back to work in four weeks and riding a recumbent bike in seven. Now, I’m preparing for a hiking trip in Bhutan this fall and feeling great. From start to finish, Dr. Bjerke and the entire team made the process easy and supportive. The EXCEL program gave me the comfort, care, and confidence I needed, and I am truly grateful.”
