It was Holy Communion day today at Griggs County Care Center in Cooperstown, ND. Pastor Josh from Zion Lutheran does such a phenomenal job of loving people! He asks for prayer requests and takes the time to really connect with people! We said, "Amen" just in time for lunch! Lunch was barbecue ribs with a the most scrumptious sides!
We all went our own ways until we met up again at 2 pm in the dining room. Orville Ramsey had a birthday today! We gathered and sang to him with all our might! We were blessed by his daughter Stacey coming in to share her gift of music while her proud Daddy watched on with glee! He danced two dances with a staff member and sipped on an NDSU Budweiser beer! He was served a rich, yummy birthday bar with chocolate! His ear to ear smile was the biggest gift for all of us to see!
A bit into the music, Stacey Aarestad was joined by Janel Getz. Together, they played divine duets that pleased our ears! How grateful we all were that they showed up to surprise us! 🎹🎼🎶🎵
And then, Emma the golden doodle therapy dog appeared! 🐕
Her presence was greatly affecting in the very best way! George quickly became Emma's buddy! What a precious capture we got of the two of them!
Marge took the time to feed Emma treats even though she was trying to quickly get to the beauty shop!
Will it come across as bragging if we feel like the luckiest humans alive to get to spend these moments~together?

Today was Groundhog's day 2026 at Griggs County Care Center in Cooperstown, ND!
We don't like any holidays to go unnoticed- so a staff member who is usually blonde put on a dark wig and some animal ears in order to look more like a real groundhog. The residents rolled a big foam die. The name of the therapeutic game was, "Whack a Groundhog! “
The resident could pick a colorful pool noodle. Blue was the most popular pick.
Mr. White rolled a solid 3!
Three whacks later and the groundhog nearly lost her wig as the poor animal with the brown hair fell to the ground in an ultra- dramatic, demonstrative, overly theatrical flair ! 😳😍
No groundhogs or humans were injured today unless you count sore abdomen muscles from laughing!
The groundhog only saw her shadow because the floors are kept so clean by our maintenance crew! .... And then, 6 month old baby Teddy came for a visit!
With him in the house, we all forgot it was a holiday!
We all became automatic grandmas and papas, aunties and uncles and, quite frankly, adults who forgot how to speak as adults! Even humans in their 90s speak fluent, "Goo goo, Ga ga“ when Teddy shows up!
Teddy left with his Mommy just as we exercised and praised together! We take prayer requests from the residents. Because of that, it's likely we even prayed for YOU today!
In all things - we give thanks. Especially that we get to live this season-together at GCCC!

Two girlfriends at Happy Hour even though they don't drink! 😂
They got the giggles just from holding the bottle!
Happy Hour at Griggs County Care Center in Cooperstown, ND is doctor approved for those who do wish to partake.
Betty Anderson gifted everyone oranges sent in from the west coast as a chaser!

At Griggs County Care Center in Cooperstown, ND... The maintenance men take one for the team!
Noodle ball purposefully turned into a time for residents to take any of their pent up frustrations out. Cody is loved by residents and staff alike!
Oh how fun this day was.
After this happened, the ladies pretended their pool noodles were trombones, flutes, trumpets and saxaphones. They played along to music from the timeless band named, "Chicago!"
Cody made it out completely unscathed and feeling loved! The ladies were dosed with laughter!
