We may need a restraining order against a rebellious elf that's attempting to squat without paying at Griggs County Care Center in Cooperstown, ND!
First the elf tried to steal Rebecca Knutson's walker!
She was really taken by surprise that this crime was happening to her... but, she wasn't having any of it and got it back!
Alice may never recover. She is still in so much shock at whatever it was the elf whispered in her ear! She's unable to tell us still! She's simply too flabbergasted !
We turned our back and heard Cheryl let out a deafening screech! The elf had taken her eyeglasses, flipped them upside down and tried to take them right off her face! The nerve! Cheryl won that battle, but.....
Nadine had had enough! She and the elf got into a brawl! It was a real scuffle! Nadine won the fight despite getting a few bruises..... the elf lost some stuffing and let out a sarcastic laugh. How rude!
The elf was trying to stay out of jail for all that. To make himself look good, he gave Mr. Fliflet a divine head massage! The elf did this in front of everyone, as if it was all for show! We knew it was all a put on! The elf attempted to act all innocent. The day went on.
Suddenly, one heck of a ruckus was heard in the restroom! Staff came a'runn'in! Dale caught the elf making a mess! Dale scolded him so badly, shaking his finger and telling the elf what the consequences would be. The elf did a front flip off the toilet seat, landed on Dale's shoulder, climbed down his back and scurried away. Truth be told... we weren't sad about it. We thought our problems had ended! The elf was gone!
The day went on when suddenly, the otherwise quiet Berthal started hollering a loud, unsettling holler! The elf had stolen her grabber and tried to take Berthal's sweater right off her! Staff rushed in to save her. We shoed the elf away with some authority!
Or... So we thought!
Tonight, as staff were getting ready to leave, we noticed the baking supply cupboard in the activity kitchen was open. That was peculiar. Next, we saw the un-decorated Christmas tree moving! There he was! That rascal rebel was readying himself to eat the frosting we need for our cookies! We surrounded the tree to grab him. We were sure this would be his end. Pride cometh before the storm! That scandalous elf slid down the center of the tree, did two somersaults and a cartwheel before he disappeared up the north hallway! We've not seen him since.
An APB has been put out for him. He's not dangerous.. This elf is just very annoying! If you find him, whatever you do... Don't touch him! If you know, you know!
We're all going to rest now! It's been a long, stressful day saving residents from this little thing!! We're exhausted! And all because a rebellious, little elf attempted to squat at GCCC!
Will he be back? Stay tuned for updates!

Hunting season has arrived at Griggs County Care Center in Cooperstown, ND!
We are here to testify...we believe some of these residents are running a racket!
They act all innocent and naive about holding a
fire 💪. One sweet gal who is usually quiet got called up to the shooting gallery.
We explained she'd get 1 point for a turkey, 2 points for a deer, 3 points for a moose and 5 big points for a bear.
Each empty pop bottle had a bird or animal on it.
The plastic, play fire 💪 with foam incendiary items was presented to her.
Her exact words, (except one that we've changed because it's a little bit spicy) were, "I can't do this! I couldn't hit a buffalo in the *butt* with a banjo!"
This was very uncommon speak for this particular resident. We were all so thankful for her comedic timing even though she didn't plan to make us laugh! People who run rackets don't usually try to make another person laugh but she proved what she was up to when she held on to that pew pew, locked her stare with a bear and took out not just a bear but also a moose in just one shot! Everyone was awestruck!
As you look through these photos pay attention to the expressions on some faces as they concentrated with all of their might! They were all after the same thing! They were attempting to win the
'2025 Sharpsh' oo'ter of the Year' award! Notice how many residents closed one eye as if they are Clint Eastwood saying, "Go ahead!
Make. My Day!"
In the end, Delores Johnson coveted her prize! Her whole box of lemon European cookies will be the perfect desert to all that bear, moose and deer meat she got!
All of the residents feel the excitement of the upcoming holidays!
Remember to stop by or call to get an *Adopt a GCCC Resident for Christmas* envelope!
While you do that, we will be getting the rhinoceroses, elephants and wander beasts ready for the next hunt! Certainly that one resident who claims she's not good with the banjo should be able to master these!
Be safe hunters near and far!
Thank you all for viewing our posts!

Ready, set, go!
The Adopt a Resident envelopes are done early for pickup! Right now, in fact!
If you would like to adopt one of the 40 Griggs County Care Center residents for Christmas, simply come into the nursing home and ask one of our nurses for an envelope. You can ask for a male or a female if you like! Or choose one randomly! The important part of this adoption is that on any gifts you give- the corresponding number on the outside of the envelope must be on each gift to ensure everyone gets what you are blessing them with! The gifts will need to be delivered before noon on December 24th or any day before then! The sooner is always the better so we can prepare the sleigh for our Elves!
May you all find the best sales and the biggest inspiration as you bless these sage souls at Christmas time! 🎄 ♥️
Please share this post and information with other family and friends and community members !

Introducing-Adopt a GCCC Resident for Christmas! 🎄
Friends… We're asking for a Christmas kindness that reaches straight into the heart of our nursing home.
At Griggs County Care Center, we have 40 residents wanting to be adopted this Christmas season. Some of them have family, some of them do not… but every single one of them deserves to feel the magic of being remembered, cherished, and celebrated. Especially during a time of year that can feel extra lonesome in a nursing home.. Oh sure, we do all we can to fill their days with joy and love but the holidays just feel different to everyone. Especially to those who have lost family or can't be together.
This coming Monday, right here at GCCC, we will have envelopes ready at the nurse's station and waiting for anyone who feels that nudge in their heart.
Inside each envelope is everything you need to bless one of our residents:

What they want.
What they need.
Their favorite snacks (trust us… some of these snack preferences are oddly specific and very endearing)
Their clothing sizes—pants, shirts, sweaters, shoes, socks.
And... Little extra things they’ve mentioned that brighten their day!
It’s all written down for you. All you have to do is pick an envelope—completely random, because sometimes God puts the exact person in your path who needs YOU the most—and so you can shop with love. Each envelope will have a number on it and all we ask is that on all of the gifts you purchase you make sure that number appears on each one.
And yes… it’s perfect timing. Black Friday deals are coming, and what better way to shop than knowing every item you buy will go directly to blessing someone who might otherwise not receive.
Imagine being elderly…
Imagine watching the Christmas season roll around…
And imagine someone from the community walking in, dropping off gifts chosen just for you—simply because your life still matters, because you’re still loved, because you’re not forgotten.
That’s the kind of miracle you can be.
And what a great way to get children involved in helping to pick out gifts and explaining why you're doing it.
So to every person reading this…
Thank you for even considering picking up an envelope.
Thank you for opening your heart to someone you may never meet.
Thank you for helping us fill the halls of GCCC with joy, dignity, and Christmas warmth.
If you feel that tug—run, don’t walk.
Stop in starting Monday and take an envelope home.
Let’s make sure all 40 residents wanting to be adopted are wrapped in love this Christmas season.
May God bless you tenfold for every blessing you pour out.

🎄A Conspiring.🎁
That's what took place in the Carlson Family which also consists of their daughter Pam Ressler!
When you work in long-term care like we do at Griggs County Care Center in Cooperstown North Dakota, we build relationships that are strong and powerful with not just the residents but with their family members also!
Pam is the daughter of Carol Carlson and the granddaughter of Laura Jean Carlson. She booked her two times second cousin Amber to assist! Then in came Heather. Heather worked the night shift as a CNA but stayed awake to do a bunch of the pressing on of all of these adorable Christmas sweatshirts and shirts they made for all 40 residents. They have been conspiring for most of the year by purchasing shirts in every size for every resident at different thrift stores.
Even the gentleman got shirts. We made a Christmas pact that all of us will wear our Christmas shirts every Thursday including Christmas day!
We ended up having different residents come in at different times because the room was getting so filled with people excited to pick out there Christmas iron on! Faye got her beloved gnomes and Donna O. was excited to get the red shirt with sparkles! Cheryl immediately picked out the decal with the vintage pickup truck!
We were sure to put initials on every shirt in order to spare them getting lost in the laundry!
We love the family members who share their most beloveds with us!
Bless you Pam and Amber for conspiring with your Mom and Grandma to make Christmas even more festive!
And Heather.. Rest on your fun vacation knowing that your sacrifice of working all night and still choosing to help us, instilled Christmas joy galore!

Fooooood Fight!!

Some people wind down their week with a quiet cup of coffee or tea.
At the Griggs County Care Center, we end our Friday by putting on plastic bags, donning bonnets, dumping Fiddle Faddle, Jelly Beans and Cheetos across tables like confetti, and spraying whipped cream on each other's heads.
Because why not?
After spending 11 months together—laughing, crying, growing, surviving, and occasionally wanting to throw a slipper at life—we decided today was the day to let those frustrations out. Loudly! Joyfully! And preferably in the form of airborne cheese puffs.
So we gathered our residents, suited them up in their high-fashion plastic attire, crowned them with whipped-cream bonnets, and declared-
"THIS is the moment to yell, to laugh, and to throw Cheetos at each other like the glorious chaos goblins God made us to be."
And oh my word… the laughter!
The shrieks.
The whipped cream in places whipped cream isn't usually at!
We will humbly ask forgiveness from the laundry ladies on Monday.
(We can confirm that some residents interpreted “aim for the bonnet” as “aim for the forearm, shirt collar, and possibly your neighbor’s glasses or noses.”)
One resident decided that throwing Cheetos was a waste of perfectly good snacks and ate her ammunition instead.
Even our fellas joined full-force — and some of those smiles were the biggest we’ve seen in months.
But the best part?
When the whipped cream settled, we gathered in the main living room for the most impromptu, soul-filling sing-along.
You Are My Sunshine.
She’ll Be Comin’ Round the Mountain.
And (of course) I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas.
Voices rose. Feet tapped. Memories woke up. Carol R. was totally in her zone! After all... She was one of the original Sheyenne Country Girls from the group!
And the whole place felt like home — the kind of home where joy is messy, laughter is medicine, and every day is a gift on this North Dakota prairie.
To our staff-you are fearless, fun, and full of heart.
To our residents-you are the sunshine in this building and the reason we show up with smiles.
What a perfect way to end a Friday at GCCC — a place where life is never boring, always blessed, and often covered in whipped cream.
Thank you for entrusting us with their care!

Joyologist Wanted!

Wondering what a Joyologist really does? Let us show you.
You’re the spark. The heartbeat. The reason someone lights up with a smile.

You throw parties on random Tuesdays.
You turn simple crafts into unforgettable connections.
You take “just another day” and make it the day everyone remembers.
You’re not just doing activities — you’re crafting moments.
Moments that make people laugh, reminisce, and feel alive.
Your days? They’ll be anything but a normal “work” day:
• Baking cookies that taste like nostalgia
• Finger painting with wild abandon and zero judgment
• Dreaming up scavenger hunts, goofy challenges, and brand-new games that surprise and delight
• Leading sing-alongs, trivia showdowns, or spontaneous dance-offs
• Sharing prayers and quiet moments with residents who seek comfort
• Honoring veterans with heartfelt celebrations
• Filling every corner with light, laughter, and pure joy

Forget sitting behind a desk.

Forget repeating the same dull tasks day after day.

Here, you’ll spark joy, every single day.
